Increased shelf life - now 2 years liquid formulation was only 1 year Much more concentrated; less product packaging to carry around and to dispose of Increased convenience and application accuracy Easier to measure and wont leave a residue like the liquid formulation Can be used on vegetables, bulb crops, bedding plants and a wide variety of ornamentals Fungus gnats stop feeding almost immediately after it is digested, and death occurs 24 to 48 hours later OMRI listed Gnatrol WDG is a biological control for fungus gnat larvae. It contains a variety of bacillus thuringiensis bacteria that kills most gnat larvae. Apply as a soil drench or add to the nutrient solution of your growing system. Does not kill adult fungus gnats, but once the larvae is killed, the adults will quickly die off. Can be used up to the day of harvest on all edible plants. Use 0.25 to 3.25 teaspoons 0.9 to 7.3 grams per gallon of water depending on severity of infestation. HAZARD TO HUMANS (AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS) CAUTION: Harmful if inhaled. Avoid breathing dust. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Causes moderate eye irritation. Avoid contact with eyes or clothing. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling.

I have looked for products that are non-toxic to use in my garden. This is a great product because I can use it in my houseplants, outdoor beds, and in my compost to control the annoying flies that get everywhere. This took care of my root maggot issues no problem. You might have to treat on reguoar basis for something like outdoor potted plants or compost drums, but it works great. You just may get reinfestations eventually if not keeping an eye out.

It's funny the prompt for a review was in my email just now, because I was about to search for why gnatrol WDG is not working or look for other methods for killing fungus gnats. I have done about three cycles of watering my office plants with gnatrol and the sticky stakes are still full of adult gnats that must be surviving the larval stage. I would not consider this product a success at all. I will continue to look for other solutions.

I had a very heavy fungus gnats infestation, and purchased this after failed attempts of vinegar traps, re-potting, and yellow tapes. This is a small bag, but it was more than enough to treat 7 planters every week until all the gnats were gone. Even after that I've been using this one in a few weeks just as a preventative measures for months. Gnats haven't come back. This product works. This becomes more effective if you combine this with yellow gnats sticks (I used regular yellow tapes first, which was useless, but gnat sticks were great to control adults).

This is the best solution for getting rid of fungus gnats without harsh pesticides. Use it with every single watering, and let the plants dry as much as possible between each watering (without damaging the plant, of course). I now use this as a preventative since there are so many fungus gnats in my neighbors plants.

Years ago I had a liquid version of Gnatrol which completely eliminated fungas gnats. On reading reviews, I found that this powdered
version lasts in the soil for four days max making it difficult to rid gnats unless you drench all plants for several weeks. Now, perhaps I am not using it perfectly, but I had a very difficult time getting rid of the gnats using this product exclusively. I had to rely on an aerosol bug spray (X-Clude) in order to kill the flying gnats in conjunction with the gnatrol which then succeeded in eliminating them. I continue using the gnatrol in small quantities to control the gnats along with the X-Clude when I see gnats flying. Sticky stakes are useful as well. Without following the above routine, gnats will proliferate out of control creating an annoying indoor atmosphere. I wish
that Valent would make the liquid version available again. It had a limited shelf life, but was much more effective.

I bought Gnatrol to control fungus gnats in my house plants. Unfortunately, we live in an area that they can be a problem in potting soil (which I apparently got a bad batch of).

I used it as directed, as a soil drench and a spray. It may have reduced the population, but only by about 30%. I ended up having to repot all my plants in sterilized soil after clearing the root systems to eliminate the problem, and that was AFTER several weeks of using this product.

Product worked but . . .

Well, the gnats are pretty much gone now from the infested plant and "bugging" me at the kitchen sink after three thorough "soaks" of the potted plant over a three week period. I noticed no changes after the first two soaks. So on the third I increased the depth of a layer of aquarium sand I had added from half inch to one inch and with the third application that seemed to do the trick. Product came in an unlabeled bottle and was devoid of handling and health warnings for poisonous materials. Also had instructions for mixing 100 gallons but nothing for a gallon. Called a number on the instruction sheet and was told that the distributor probably bought Gnatrol in bulk and sent it out in small bottles to offer low price which is great. But they need to add poison info. I got poison info from Gnatrol website. We figured that about a tablespoon of Gnatrol was needed for "heavy infestation" to make one gallon. Product I received can make ten gallons. Hope this helps - Richie
