The game is packed with bosses and thought enemies that keep the fun going and varied.
Level design is also top knotch, I never felt like a was play re-skined section. You constantly unlock new weapons and the proceeding level and boss fights are designed with these new weapons in mind. That being said I found that all weapons are viable in the game, some will make a given section easier but all are viable. There are also hidden secrets to find, so it even has an exploration component.
Awesome graphics as well, they feel like they were prerendered but the right way. The stages, backgrounds and enemies have a lot of detailed. The stage elements have movement, and react to the environmental lighting and the light from your characters weapons; it makes the stages feel alive. Color design is also good, for a game that has a metal gorish esthetic its actually very colorful.
To top it all off the game has a sweet metal sound track that ramps up with the action.
The story is straight forward but I enjoyed the main character's and the AI conpanion's dialog.
Honestly I could gush about how great the game is for a while. I finished the game three times now, I feel it has great replay ability and is one that I will for sure replay in the future.
