I read this book in 1961 while stationed on Okinawa. I never forgot it. Tell the story of the Korean War veterans (1954) sent to Mt Fuji Japan from Korea. How they faired as peacetime marines coming from combat and the start of the permanent assignment of the 3rd MarDiv to the Far East. Great Book, all drinkin'/ fightin'/Bar Hoppin'/ Brig Time /....all you peacetime marines that spent anytime on Okinawa during the late 50s & early 60s will relare to this book

Exciting today as it was at my first reading in the 60's. I purchased this copy for Marine friend. We were both stationed with (he with George Co. and I in How Co.) the 3rd Bn, 3rd Marine Regt. Both of us were Pfc's and Cpl in 1956-57. Brings back many memories. Jere Peacock has all the facts and puts such into a great book that is easy to read and one that I did not want to end. Every once in a while I pick it up and read a few pages. Valhalla is a must read by all Marines and get acquainted with what is the "Old Corps" to me. John Sandoval Jr. Captain USMC. Semper Fidelis.

Also read the book while in the 12th Marines stationed on Okinawa in 64-65 off the coast of Vietnam. A few passages have stuck with me since the first time I read it.

Other than an offensive stale odor, everything was fine considering the age of the product. Started reading this book in 1962 and never finished. Can do so now.
