Fans of the current day Bloodshot series will love the book, and I myself in many ways find these older stories just as exciting and interesting as the current day ones, and for a new Valiant reader like myself, it's really interesting to see the original take on today's revised version of the story.
Not to mention the 100% *NEW* story that's in the book, created by the original creative team, and really nice touch by today's Valiant. So that's 9 comics in one hardback. Not bad at all.
The writing is fantastic and full of lots of detail regarding the character and his circumstances, as well as genuinely exciting action scenes, all portrayed by some fantastic art, especially considering the 'typical' comic book style that was common around this time. To summarise, the art is better than anything by Marvel from this era.
At these prices you can hardly go wrong.
Whats not to love?
Its great to see the current relauch of valiant has not forgotten its past. Now you can read the new stories, and if you wish go back and see how it all started.
Not just a reprint, but Valiant called in the original creators to write a new story! Which cannot be found anywhere else. So enjoy, reminisce and then go to your local comic shop and purchase the new series or by the tradepaperbacks here.!
Bloodshot is a good read - it isn't as action packed as the current incarnation (and the Valiant "house style" certainly doesn't highlight action and gore) but if you like a good story about a soldier who is uncertain about his past, who he is, and why he is a killing machine (literally imbued with nanites to help him out), then this master work edition has the right stuff for you.
