Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Hi.
This is a warning.  This novel deals with the undead and crazy people.  There are very few depictions of ponies prancing gaily across pastures.

BUT there are numerous depictions of violence, blood, mayhem, and gore.  I am writing this warning because someone wrote a rather nasty yet hilarious review of VOD after proudly explaing she couldn't make it through the 2nd chapter due to, among other things that she found distasteful, the "Gross" factor.

Some people might believe a zombie book would be expected to have some "Gross" stuff in it.  How to create a joyous cheerful undead tale is beyond my mental abilities.  Apparently, I was super predictable and presented homicidal zombies as violemt and gross monstrosities. (weeping pitifully)  Don't read this book.  It's gross.

Oh yeah, and some animals die in the story too and some people objected strenuously to that also, but those folks were goofy.  I don't give animals a free pass from ravenous undead because people from some animal rights group says it's naughty to depict animals being eaten and or torn apart by zombies.  That's just silly.  So, do not NOT read VODZTP because of that stupid reason.  I just thought for full disclosure sake I'd mention it.

What do you get when you add a antisocial, pot growing vietnam vet, toss in a rich grouchy elderly woman, a dash a war veteran colonel, and throw in a handful of illegal Mexicans turned zombie? You get the recipe for a riveting, engaging book. You get all that and more in this one novel. Trapped in a trailer park set in a valley in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico the survivors wait for some one to rescue them and when they realize that rescue isn't coming, because no one knows what's going on, they have to rely on themselves and each other. THis book give a whole new meaning to the phrase "trailer Trash."

The folks that gave this book a low rating must not enjoy zombie horror! Aside from the grammatical errors, I thought the story was well written! Gross in some parts, really funny in others and definitely the brainchild of a twisted mind and twisted sense of humor! I enjoyed this book quite a bit! If you like zombie-end of the world-horror type stories, then this book is definitely for you!

This zombie story was full of action, I liked that there was no slow buildup. The characters were easy to get. The author did say he had put a bit of homour in the story, and yes I did laugh once or twice at some ironic bits. Good ending too, ESP with the cause of the outbreak.

So after reading this book, I can safely say without any hesitation that this is one of the best zombie books I have read in a very long time! The story flows very nicely and all the characters are very well developed and interesting to read about. They all have interesting backstories and you can get invested in them and while reading this, I was eagerly swiping from page to page as I was reading this.

The author not only gives us interesting characters and a great horror/survival story, he also manages to throw in little pop culture references like when the little boy gets stuck and shouts the Hulk's signature catch phrase before yanking himself free. I have to admit that had me chuckling as I read it!

I have to say that my favorite pair of characters that are stuck together is probably Maria and the old lady as they bicker while trying to get to safety and had me laughing the whole time I was reading about them.

If you like zombie books with great characters, then you HAVE to read this! Check it out!

I must say I started this book with much trepidation. I was not expecting much especially considering amazon offered it to me as a free read. Well I couldn't have been more wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Constant action, realistic characters all delivered with a dry wit that kept things interesting and amusing. At times I caught myself laughing out loud. Although a huge zombie fan its not very often that I come across a good zombie book. I would definitely recommend this to others.

Beeb' s KECK Book 1 is just the prelude to his continuing series. Terrifying zombies, Gore and mayhem, along with characters ranging from an ordinary fellow to the most despicable villians are cast into a frightening story that is unique to the genre.
And surprisingly.... humor. This reader predicts that if this story had the right production. and properadaptation of Benn 's tale, an excellent movie would be made.
Really, Book 1 would definitely would make a great film.

Bebb kicks it up notch to outright horror in Book2. Sometimes when you think things could not get worse, well sometimes they do. Good read for zombie and horror fans.

I truly hope someone familiar with adapting a book into a film reads this review and contacts the author. Book 1 would make a great film.

If you love zombies I suggest reading this. I was sceptical at first due to the reviews left by other people but I'm really glad I read this. William Bebb did a wonderful job writing this book, the grammar and punctuation aren't always the best, but you can't sit and think about that while you're reading this because of the fact that he gets you into the book. He gets you into the book right away and I found it hard to put this book down.
