The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Fifth Season (DVD)
Get ready for more epic suspense, romance and a bloody good thrill ride as hit series The Vampire Diaries continues for a fifth season. In the shocking season four finale, Elena (Nina Dobrev) forced the cure to vampirism down the throat of her doppelganger, Katherine Pierce (also played by Dobrev), effectively turning her back into a human. Elena, free of her sire bond to Damon (Ian Somerhalder), professes her true love to him with no strings attached … as her first love in Mystic Falls, Stefan (Paul Wesley), listened in the next room. Stefan’s plans for the immortal Silas took an unexpected turn when Silas reappeared in his true form — as Stefan’s doppelganger — stabbing the real Stefan in the stomach and throwing him into the quarry to suffer for eternity. The hit series enters its fifth season with some characters headed off to college, Katherine trying to survive as a human and a shocking Salvatore secret.]]>

Great characters-- They have really created some wonderful characters with more depth than you would expect for a TV show. They are interesting to watch and you find yourself rooting for them!
Great plot twists- The writers are excellent. Things can get over the top but never in a way that does not make sense for the world they have created. You are on the edge of your seat--especially considering that the writers are not afraid to kill off characters
Good acting- I think the acting is really fantastic. Everyone does a wonderful job, but I think the standout is the actor who plays Damon and also Klaus. Elena also does well switching between Katherine and Elena. Really excellent work.
Nice balance: I thought Twilight was a bit too lite considering the topics were vampires and werewolves etc. I like that Vampire Diaries pushes this envelope a bit and is more gritty. There is no cursing in the show which should please some people--although some of the situations that they find themselves in I might not blame them!
In terms of this season--it is my least favorite of them all--but still great! Season 3 was my personal favorite so far. If you are on the fence, but like this genre, you should really give it a try! I expected to be mildly entertained and now it is one of my favorite shows.
Cheers! To the greatest pair of shows on tv today! If the series' continue on the path that they're on, I'd be willing to bet that we get *fingers-crossed* at least another five more years of "The Vampire Diaries" seducing us, entertaining us, and thrilling us every week... And if we're really lucky, another nine years of "The Originals". I know TVD can keep doing the same thing that all of us fans have come to expect each week: giving us our two wonderful hours of passion, plot twists, love triangles, vengeance, and, of course, the completely unexpected. (Along with our fix of Damon and Klaus ;-) )
I love you, Vampire Diaries!! You get better and better with each season!! Thanks!
Why can't we just have a hot steamy relationship with Elena and Damon? It is the only redeeming thing about Season five and the only reason I keep watching, just hoping to see these two together again. But every time it gets close, enter the stupid TRAVELERS or so and so's ghost.
It's getting old and (pardon the pun) Unoriginal. Can we have something new please?????
