This rendition by Eve Paludan may be a bit better than the others (I have not had a chance to read any of them yet) since she has already delved into this world once before with Mr Rain's permission in her The Brotherhood of the Blade Trilogy which was another great example of this type of writing.
I really did enjoy this book although at times it seemed to border on silly and ruined my mental picture of Kingsley from the original series since for a guy over 300 years old he was kinda clueless about a lot of things in the romance department.
The story itself was good, I loved almost all of it especially the appearance of surprise characters in Las Vegas but at times the story seemed like it moved a bit too fast and at times too slow but the ending worked out pretty well all things considered.
Bottom Line: Great entertainment value, don't expect these characters to match-up exactly to the ones written by JR Rains but it is close enough not to be a real problems. The pace of the story seemed a bit inconsistent but again, not a big thing since I still loved the story but until they headed to Vegas I was getting sick of "lovesick" Kingsley. Still highly recommended but just realize this spinoff series might need some adjustment for readers of Vampire for Hire but a solid 4 Stars from me.
This is not my typical genre, and I didn't read the other series by J.R. Rain. I have to say that it's extremely brave to attempt to write a book into someone else's world. I also think it's amazing, how Eve Paludan was able to write it in a male voice.
I enjoyed the story, I liked the characters, but some of the silliness of Kingsley didn't go with the three-hundred year old wolf. He was more like an unexperienced whiny bear.
