They're the old fashioned blood sucking minions of the devil kind who want to send your soul straight to hell, after tormenting you to death first. They have magic powers and they cast spells and they fly and they turn to mist and of course, they drink a lot of blood.
It's a good story, too. About this guy, Aaron, who sees one of them attacking someone, and he gets away. You get the definite impression that never happens. If anyone seems these vampires doing their thing, it's all over for them, too. But he gets away and then tries to start convincing his girlfriend and their friends that these vampires are chasing him. But almost nobody believes him until the vampires show up.
I think that's what I liked best about it. In most vampire stories I always think it's pretty amazing how quickly people accept the idea that the main character is being chased by or chasing vampires. It's just, "Really? Okay, I'll help." But in this book the characters are just as skeptical as I think I'd be if even my best friend came up to me and said, "Hey. I saw this vampire attack my paperboy and now I need your help to track her down and drive a stake through her heart".
And it's fast paced. By page two I was hooked and I hardly set it down until I was done. The story just flows from one scene to the next and it's like you're right there with the characters. It's a very good vampire yarn. Very much worth the read.
This is really great story telling. I hope that a buzz and following for this book develops. It would be a scary movie.
Turns out.. Vampires In Paradise is highly entertaining and easy to read.
You will not find any sparkling or teenage fluff here. These vampires are the monsters I have always imagined. Enjoy a twisted, well written horror story.
