Honestly I don't even know if this is just a start-up disc. It appears to have at least 7+ Gbs packaged in .csd file format (don't know anything about formats) I've tried several methods of install. From DVD. Taking the DVD content from disc placing it on the desktop and using the setup from there. Nothing seems to work.
So at this point I have already used my activation code and am letting Steam do its downloading which should be done in a few days but again I am very upset not only because I've wasted time and effort but also because I purchased a new disc drive for this (and hopefully future stuff).
Also I've read about DLC. I don't know if I was supposed to get that but if so, I did not.
Will change my score if things change. People say this score is meant for the game/product but since I'm unable to even play the game with the purchase I made, I feel this score is well deserved. Vampyr - Windows
July 9th, 2018 update: I finally just downloaded the game. (I won't even bother with the incompetence of Maximum Games support) After playing for about 15 hours I literally gave up on the game. It has to be the most boring game about vampires I've ever played. Not only did learning about the NPCs have literally no impact on the world building, it was repetitive and didn't feel worth the effort. Not only that, the dialog boxes to determine some people's fate at different moments in the game don't necessarily equate to the what said characters fate will be. 1 save slot only. Making choices permanent unless you start the game from the very beginning. Ugly combat, and terrible voice acting. This is my opinion. I don't recommend this game and I don't recommend purchasing the PC disc version unless you want to deal with headaches and clearly inexperienced support.
First the bad. The map isn't quite as large as it seems. While you're in London, it's not as sprawling as you'd expect. It's large enough to be interesting and to serve the plot well, but this isn't an open-world game where you can travel around and explore. The monsters and humans you fight seem rather generic, and the difficulty is a bit skewed. That is, you can find it frustratingly difficult to fight your way through the generic enemies so that you can reach the boss, but then find some bosses to be not nearly as challenging.
Then we have what's neither bad nor good, but just ... different. There is no difficulty setting. You can get some very minor experience from killing enemies, some more from solving quests, and even a bit more from healing citizens as they get sick (you're a doctor, after all). You get the most experience from feeding on and killing the citizens you encounter throughout the story though. But this is tricky, as these same citizens also give quests and contribute to the story. Kill them off, and there ARE repercussions. Their death affects those in the same social circle, and storylines and clues are no longer available. This means you have to give considerable thought to your actions. Do you kill people for more experience so so the game is easier, or do you spare them and sacrifice experience and make the game harder? And as for giving your actions considerable thought, there's one more thing that's unusual.... there are no save slots in the game. You choose one of three slots at the beginning of the game, and this one slot will be where your story is automatically saved. There is no "save the game, kill someone, see what happens, load again if you don't like the results." You have to live with the choices you make. I found this made me much more invested in my choices than I would have been normally.
And finally, the good... This game has some of the best written characters and dialog I have ever seen. The voice acting is superb, and the dialog sounds exactly like you'd expect in 1918 London. I found great joy in hearing Dr. Reid anytime he spoke, along with many other characters. Voices nicely match the character models you see, and each character has a life, personality, and secrets. The plot works very well and drives the story to the conclusion. It gets a bit convoluted towards the end, but otherwise shows an incredible amount of care and expertise. And again, the dialog and writing is superb. During one boss battle that comes to mind, there was an opening and closing cutscene, and the nature of the encounter could have been terrible. The dialog could have too easily been campy and overacted and eye-rolling. Instead, it was gripping and emotional and realistic. Some boss battles had me feeling sorrow for the enemy I had just defeated. The developer said they didn't have the budget like the large properties had, so they focused heavily on the characters to distinguish their game, and it paid off. Each character, no matter how minor, feels real, and it's a joy to uncover their stories. Combined with the great artwork and atmospheric music, the game pulls you in and is a true experience.
The game does have flaws, but there's so many good things to it that make it stand out, it's well worth it.

Good graphics and a lot of replayability as well, as the many choices you make and who you decide to kill (or not to kill) will alter the game.
