Deep within the walls of a gloomy castle in the equally gloomy land of Draxsylvania, the young, gifted opera singer Mona De Lafitte is held captive by her tormentor, vampire Baron Shrowdy von Kiefer. Ever since she was transformed into a vampire by Shrowdy and whisked off to Draxsylvania, her greatest wish has been to return to Paris, continue her singing career, and one day become a star at the Paris Opera. When Shrowdy fails to return from a nightly foray, she at last sees an opportunity to flee. Together with her only friend and confidant, a cheeky bat named Froderick, she escapes from her prison and tries to find her way back to Paris. During her flight through Draxsylvania, where she encounters some strange inhabitants and some even stranger challenges, Mona must learn not only to accept her vampire nature, but also to use the abilities she has acquired to her advantage.

Major Bugs but Still Awesome

I really wanted to give it five stars because the dialogue, story, characters, and objectives were awesome, but the downfall of it was the major bugs in the programs. The following are ways to get around the bugs( dont worry I wont drop any spoilers)
1: Don't refill the bottle until you make the golum.
2: Talk to the little boys before going in the stadium with the "woman of low moral"
If you don't follow the above you will have to replay the entire game or from your last saving point to go further in the game. I don't understand how these big logic errors got pass tje programmers but they are highly annoying. If you get caught int the bugs go to: http://www.gameboomers.com/wtcheats/pcVv/avampyrestory.htm
Otherwise, the game runs pretty smoothly amd I loved playing the game. The art was pretty and the characters were hilarious. You'll love the bat. The game makes you think and overall you'll get the picture of what to do.

Five stars for beautiful animation, clever puzzles, and a nice little plot. I think the most striking feature of this game is actually the humor. Upon playing through, I was delightfully surprised at the wickedly morbid humor (this IS a game about vampires, after all). Wouldn't really recommend for kids under 10, unless they also have a twisted sense of humor. The puzzles were moderately challenging, the voice acting was great, and it was overall very engaging to play.

Only one caveat, major cliffhangers at the end and the production of the sequel (or prequel/ whatever) has been indefinitely stalled. Would definitely recommend for some simultaneously cute and morbid fun.

Vampyre Story is an adventure point and click game. The artwork is superb and the music is very good too. The spooky surroundings are wonderful to explore.There are tons of tasks that you have to be super creative to figure out. Try all options and talk to everyone. This game has a unique interface where you point on something and have a choice of four options: speak, touch, fly to, and examine, this makes the game very easy to play.Your items are also displayed in a coffin and they are readily available for use. You have to combine a lot of items and things like that so the interface is very simple to handle.I have been playing this with my nine year old and she really has enjoyed it very much. The characters are neat and the artwork keeps it interesting.

I agree with other reviewers, this game is dull and the tasks are so tedius. I didn't even finish this game because each task you have to do you have to go back and forth slowly and the tasks are just boring and it takes forever. The story line seems good, but it gets boring fast.

Not a real good game to play because of the way you use the controls to play. The graphics are good but those arrow keys just don't work for me. Also the strategy guide is hard to get to during game play.
