I got my DVD last week from Amazon.com, and have to say I enjoyed the concert very much. Yes, the DVD quality is subpar (2.0 audio and 4:3 video)...but who CARES? As long as I can hear and see Vanessa-Mae perform on this DVD, then it is perfect for me. Being a fan of Vanessa-Mae, I'm just so happy I can finally see her perform. The picture is just fine (just have to adjust my picture to 4:3 on my tv...no big deal) and the sound is just what you would expect for 2.0 stereo (and sounds good enough to me). Remember, that this concert footage was back in 1995 and was only released on VHS outside the US. So, I'm very greatful after 15 plus years to finally see a DVD release of Vanessa-Mae for the states (actually it was released in South Korea but is in NTSC format with no region code, so it plays in US players). Trust me, for any true Vanessa-Mae fan that wants to see her perform will appreciate this DVD very much. Not only you get an hour and 20 minutes of concert, but you also get 2 videos, and a brief bio. Now, at the time of purchasing this on Amazon.com, I was lucky enough to find a seller selling this just for $9.99 with free shipping. And as I write this review the cheapest rate going for this DVD now is 15 plus bucks plus shipping & handling. So you looking at almost 20 bucks. So if you enjoy Bond (I also have there "Live At The Royal Albert Hall" DVD) and Escala (now they need to come out with a DVD), then you'll enjoy this DVD.

The then-teenage violinist gives a concert in London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall. Vanessa is okay, nothing super to watch but amazing in her self-assuredness for such a young woman.

In this live concert footage, she attempts to liven up the proceedings with some different kinds of tuns, from classic to rock, and with some dancing added and some small talk between numbers. I give her credit for that. She could just stand there and play the violin but she knows that's not much in visual entertainment. Sometimes she succeeds with these things, other time she doesn't, but she's young and she's trying. Living in London since she was four, she could speak English well, so there was no language barrier. I suspect she's a far better entertainer now, some dozen years after this was filmed. I see here at Amazon she has something out from 2006, so I might check it out.

She's talented, and she's cute but overall this DVD is nothing special. It isn't her fault; watching someone play classical music on violin isn't exactly exciting. About a third of her numbers were classical which sound good, but you might as well just have the CD.

I'm not going to talk about skill or style. All I am going to say, is that it is well worth while getting this DVD. Not only is the music wonderful to listen too, but Vanessa is really nice to look at too.

Hey, if your looking this far, then you should go ahead and get the DVD.

You won't be disappointed.

Incredible poor quality with this video.
Never saw such an incredible bad quality like this one.
Great performance as usual of Vanessa but I didn't enjoy it at all.

If you are a Vanessa-Mae fan, like I am, you are going to love this DVD. It is the first and, I believe, the only DVD that Vanessa has released. And that is a pity because she is so good at her craft. I was very happy that I bought this DVD and was really impressed with it. It is just long enough to thoroughly enjoy on a rainy night when there is nothing to watch on TV or any other night or day for that matter. Vanessa plays all of her hits up to and including The Violin Player album. I hope that this is not the only release that Vanessa releases because she is really that good. I also hope that I get a chance to see her live in concert in the future. So if you enjoy Vanessa-Mae's this is the DVD for you. Listen and enjoy it forever.
