This is a fun read and keeps the adrenaline pumping. Lots of twists and turns in the plot...definitely keeps you guessing trying to figure out who is telling the truth and can or cannot be trusted. Kyra Davis has honed her characters in this series and they have all become multifaceted and more and more interesting. These are people we can care about and be invested in. It may be a light and easy read, but there is emotional depth. I wholeheartedly recommend this book and this series.

I was really, really disappointed in this book. I had been looking forward to it for a long time (and had been following Davis' FB page for updates).

When it came out...as a self-published e-book...I snagged it.

Davis should have kept her editor; it was CLEAR who was in charge of keeping the characters witty, the action flowing smoothly, and the lines fresh but familiar--and it sure wasn't Davis. I don't know why Davis switched to self-publishing (probably her contract was up and not renewed; it happens), but she fails as an author on her own, without a publishing house to back her.

Fellow readers, I KEEP SEEING THIS. I see successful, enjoyable authors think they can do better in self-publishing and then fail time and time again. To make my point about VVaWV:

The book was FULL of grammatical and spelling issues. Sentence structure had fallen off a ravine and couldn't be rescued. Formatting was horrible at best, as if Davis had simply rushed the book off to the "presses", as it were. There were spaces in the middle of names, in the middle of sentences, you name it, there was crappy formatting all around.

Davis noted on Facebook that the formatting errors had been taken care of, and to return the book and redownload. I did. Readers, the SAME formatting issues were still there. After that I threw up my hands.

As for the characters. It was hard for me to get going on this book. The pacing was choppy and the witticisms I had so enjoyed in Davis' previous books were missing. The mystery was...not nearly as complex or fascinating; it was, in fact, annoying and downright boring.

Anatoly's mystery marriage, finally solved, was...a let down.

I loved this book from start to finish. It grabbed me by the collar and didn't let me go until the very last page. It was fun, fast paced, and full of twists, turns, and plenty of laugh out loud moments. Sophie's colorful cast of friends and family are never boring and totally over the top. Yet Kyra Davis has a gift of making them totally belivable, well rounded, characters. I cant' wait until the next installment with these characters. Each book is begining to feel like a long overdue reunion with good friends. Well done! Long live Sophie Katz!

In a world full of rising ebook costs, it's nice to see the next book in a series NOT rise from a $6.99 paperback to a $12.99 ebook (how does this happen?). I found this series by chance via Audible's $4.95 sale on my way to Hawaii. I proceeded to buy the other 2 available and listened to them all before the end of my trip. I have since re-listened and followed the series as they came out and will continue to do so. This is a series worth paying attention too. Just like True Blood is the R rated Twilight (uhg), you can consider this the R rated Stephanie Plum. I would also like to congratulate Kyra Davis on her first self published book. She hit it out of the water! I strongly encourage everyone to buy this series.

I've read the entire Sophie Katz series, and this was by far an incredibly disappointing read. While the Sophie Katz series is meant as a sassy, fun read (with less than believeable plots), this one was so far fetched and the "bad guys" so one-dimensional, I struggled to get through it.

And the copy editing is horrible! I found at least two to three typos, missing words and grammatical errors every chapter! It made for distracting reading, and made me feel like this was just a slip shod, poor excuse to get another book on the shelves to sell.

I think I liked the last one better, but this one was fun just the same! Either it was shorter than the last one, or I really breezed through it. I really like Sophie, her friends, her sister. (I think we could be friends! But I would not have joined her on her trip to Vegas. . .) I enjoy the writing. The plots always seem so implausible, but I enjoy the escape! And, I too appreciate an appropriately priced Kindle book! Thanks, Ms. Davis!

I've read every Sophie Katz mystery and I've loved them all. I was super disappointed that not only did I have to wait a long time for this installment, but also that Davis' publisher had dropped the series, especially since "Vows, Vendettas, and a Little Black Dress" ended on the Anatoly's married! cliffhanger. Thankfully, Kyra Davis decided to self publish, yeah! Aside from an unusually large font and some minor typos, it's the same quality and great storytelling that Kyra always delivers.

"Vanity, Vengeance, and a Weekend in Vegas" is a laugh out loud, highly addictive, pageturner that I stayed up until 4am to finish. All of the crazy characters are back: Dena's fierce, Sophie's sister Leah surprises, Marcus is bestier than ever, and MaryAnn's still the optimistic Disnye princess. This time they have to band together to not just mend Sophie's broken heart (Anatoly's married to the Mob!), but also to save an increasingly reckless Sophie who's determined to save Anatoly, even if it's just to kill him herself. Afterall, Anatoly, as sexy, mysterious, and withholding as ever, is HERS!

I loved this book so much and I cannot wait for the next. While Vanity does not end on a cliffhanger like the previous one, there is a possibly obsessed sociopath who I'd love to see more of in the next book.
