Vans' storied history, and our connection with skate and surf culture, began in 1966 Southern California with the rolling out of a single pair of shoes. They were named Authentic. In the generations since, they have only gotten more popular amongst hardcore skaters and skate enthusiasts. Their design is simple, stylish, and effective: a low top lace-up profile made with sturdy canvas uppers, and signature waffle rubber soles.

What i don't like about this shoe that i found out recently, though, is that when stepping on something wet (like grass or a small puddle) the water transfers through the white rubber at the bottom. Only found out from walking my dog through the morning dew grass as i try to avoid walking on wet stuff.
Aside from that, perfect shoes!
Also general note about Vans shoes. I absolutely love my slip-ons. Had the same pair for six years and they only looked as bad as they did when I replaced them because they were chewed on by a dog. They're made for skaters so they're super durable. Absolutely great for someone who wears the same shoes frequently. I know they're pretty expensive for shoes, but the investment is worth it for the quality. Similar, off-brand shoes are not as well-made.
