The first one of these I received did not work well at all. Only the front panel audio worked properly. The USB did not work reliably and the card reader for SD worked while the CF reader did not. There was also some kind of weirdness where the power and hard disk lights stayed on all the time even when the machine's power was off. This went away immediately when the unit was unplugged.

There is something wrong with the SATA. Whenever the SATA cable is connected to the motherboard the bootup is delayed for at least 30 seconds while the BIOS tries to initialize the SATA drives. This happens with both the original and the replacement unit I received. (Fortunately my client has no need for front-panel eSATA so I disconnected it).

If this unit is meant to be installed into a 3.5" bay then there should be no problem, but if you want to use the 5.25" plastic mounting bracket to install it then you will be in a world of hurt. The screws supplied are incorrect. Instead of supplying screws meant for plastic they supply little machine bolts that you are supposed to jam into undersized, unthreaded holes in the plastic. You need to do this 6 times to mount the thing - two to mount the unit in the bracket and four to mount the bracket into the computer. Difficult if not impossible. Fortunately I was able to scrounge up some of those little plastic screws but most people will not have them around. Clearly they didn't think this through or they don't really care.

All in all, this is a poorly thought out, buggy, and badly tested product. I have stronger words for my opinion of this thing but they probably wouldn't let me use them in this review.

It's okay. It worked, but the plastic body and mounts make it difficult to install without breaking. The audio ports are already a bit lose only after having it installed for a few months.

The first unit worked fine, except for the eSATA port, so I returned it. The replacement unit has the same problem. The eSATA port doesn't work even with a Vantec external drive case with eSATA port. That same external drive works fine with a different eSATA port on my system.

So this is a major disappointment, because it's clearly a design problem. However, their customer service is very good.

Also, the unit lines up poorly in a 5.25" drive bay adapter.
