Review

This CD is a masterpiece and a product of such quality that we don t see very often. Even if you don t have a connection to Metroid music, the CD will most likely satisfy your music taste and serve as an excellent entry into the world of Metroid. For my money, it is the best CD of 2009, official or doujin, hands down. Highly Recommended. --Original Sound Version

Overall, the band delivers an album that will stand up to original metal bands in most people s playlists. Compared to many other video game cover bands, which prefer to show off their musicianship instead of writing good songs, Metroid Metal has found a good balance between staying true to the original music and displaying their own talents in Varia Suite. More cover bands should do this with songs. All metal heads, especially those who have played any of the Metroid games, should definitely pick up this album. --Metal Underground

I'm a Netflix nerd. Loved that game and for an early nintendo game the soundtrack was innovative, complex and memorable. This band covers songs from across the series and makes them METAL! They do a wonderful job making the songs their own and introduce a great take on the tracks. I blast this and the expansion in my car al the time. Norfaire is my favorite

I've been a fan of the Metal Metroid songs for a while now, and have donated to Stemage's website, and downloaded the songs, which had been hosted for free. When I saw this on Amazon, I almost had a heart attack and instantly clicked buy (after listening to the clips of course), and even though these are the same songs, he's gone back and changed things and really redone these versions; I'll gladly pay for these because the others were hosted for free. Now when I say Metal Metroid, I don't mean the full on screaming metal with the insane guitar riffs, Stemage just uses a nicely distorted guitar in an instrumental soundtrack, throw in some drums and a killer bass riff or two, and you have some beautifully redone songs from a fantastic series of Video Games.
Bottom line is this, if you have the Metroid Metal songs already, do Stemage and yourself a favor, and just buy this album. Listen to the 30 second samples if you haven't heard of Metroid Metal, or go to the website and download a free song or two, and then decide whether or not you'll like these tracks or not. I'm not disappointed with my purchase

Ever since I read over 2 decades ago, Japan had touring symphonies playing video game music, have I longed for video game arrangements of all genres. And I have a lot from piano collections, vocal, rock, instrumental, jazz, acoustic, even Celtic... but you haven't heard anything until you've heard these downloads from Metroid Metal. The arrangements are perfect and, since a few tracks are supposed to be continuous [like the old Fresh Aire series] (esp. tracks 4 & 5, which are not seemless when downloaded separately, or maybe I don't have the best burning options...) I may have to break down and buy the CD also. I am thoroughly hooked on these metal rock versions from the classic tunes from the Metroid series. Now if they'd come out and do more I'll be even happier. I bough a few tracks last year, and had to buy more. Buy, download and enjoy, you do NOT know what you're missing! (Yes, even if you don't like 'metal', but love Metroid, you WILL love these arrangments!)

Metriod Metal. The title says it all. When you combine one of the best video games of our time with the awesomeness that is progressive metal, this is what you get. You don't have to have even played the games, it's still great technical music. Ripping solos, complex bass lines and head-butt-inducing drums. It's a package any true pro-metal would be remiss to pass up. GD METAL!!

These guys aren't just fans. They really know what they are doing from the music to the album packaging itself. I would feel repetitive saying what everyone else already said. For the record, I don't like metal that much. As I said the thoughtfulness of this album really makes me forget that I don't like metal much. Buy it and support this band, they've been giving their stuff out for free for ages.

I got the pleasure of seeing Metroid Metal in concert at PAX Prime, and they were the best band that played that night. Basically, if you like game rock remix CDs like Dracula Battle or Project X, then this is up your alley.
