First, fit -- this boot runs a bit narrow and so I sized up 1/2 size. I usually wear an 8 1/2 but I bought a 9 and it's perfect. I wear Saucony running shoes -- those made for narrow heels and wide toe-bases with good arch support -- and this boot supports that shape of fit. It has decent arch support and is soft enough to mold around my feet and ankles. I was able to put my custom orthodic under the footbed to make it fit even better.
I've taken this out for two hikes so far; one three miler and one seven miler and they were excellent! I live in the pacific northwest so finding a boot with ankle support and water proofing is a must. I recommend this boot to anyone who has narrow ankles/heels, a wide toe bed, and requires higher arch support. It's fantastic!
Update 4/22/14: I liked these so much I risked ordering a full size larger than I ever buy and they fit great. Normally 7.5 wide but needed at 8.5 wide. Order larger than usual
They fit perfectly in the ankle part but doesn't have much space between your toe and the tip of the boot if wearing thick socks
Not completely water-proof
The best ankle support
Keep feet warm
How did I ever hike without these vasque boots? They are the best thing that's ever happened to me!! You have to wear a pair of thin socks with these in order to have ample room for your toes, or a thin wool sock if it's winter. Best ankle support without being too stiff or too soft. Don't wade in streams because water will get in, but walking through snow or big puddles won't get your feet wet.
The traction is unbelievable, great grip, keep my feet warm and a strong toe tip so when I accidentally kick a rock, I don't feel a thing! These boots are lightweight and can be broken into in less than 10 mi.
Pair these up with a pair of York Nordic trekking poles and you're good to go!!
They hold up. They're still waterproof (except where the rubber toe guard is coming loose from the boot body - to no fault of the boots, I abused them), and by far the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. From day 1, I've loved them, and how comfy they are. They have great ankle support, ample toe room, and are stiff enough to step on the sharpest rocks.
Sizing tip (especially for those who can purchase these not on amazon): Look at the European size. On all my most comfy daily shoes, I wear anywhere between 8 to 9 (not helpful when buying a new pair that you need to fit right, and NOW!), but no matter if it's US 8, US 8.5, or US 9, the EURO size is always 39. So, when I went to the store, the guy asked me my size, I told him usually 8, and I immediately checked the Euro size (it was 38), and asked for one size bigger. He didn't believe me because I hadn't even tried it on yet, so I humored him and of course my toes were all smashed in the front. Once I got the size 8.5/39, I knew my feet would be happy. And they have been, ever since!

Even if this boot comes in narrow it is still too wide for the front of the boot. It is especially noticeable when on a descending trail as the foot moves forward too much. Read morePublished 9 hours ago by Zita
I've only worn them through one 2hr hike... rough terrain. So far so good and no problem and I would expect them to be even more comfortable in subsequent hikes. Read morePublished 2 days ago by jannz
They provide good support. They are a bit heavy for a long hike. I think that's just the price you pay for the rigid ankle support. They work pretty well in snow. Read morePublished 4 days ago by Kathy Simmons
I have a narrow foot, so they fit me perfectly. I only walked around the house minimal amount of time and then hiked over 40 miles and feet felt great!Published 5 days ago by School is alsome

Wore on a 3 mile hike right out of the box and they were comfortable. I'd like to break them in more and would not wear them all day at first. Read morePublished 9 days ago by Dorothy J. Van Ness
Great boots! Wore them straight without any breaking-in. Very comfortable and they look good too. I am a size 8 and for some shoes I get the size 8.5. I've ordered these in 8. Read morePublished 10 days ago by Amazon Customer
