West coast metal veterans Metal Church will release From the Vault via Rat Pak Records on April 10, 2020. From the Vault is a special edition compilation album that features 14 previously unreleased tracks from the Mike Howe era, which include four newly recorded studio tracks including a redux of the band's fan favorite classic "Conductor." The remaining tracks are compiled from various recordings in the band's history and include five tracks from 2018's Damned if You Do recording sessions, three cover songs and two live tracks "Agent Green" and "Anthem to the Estranged" which was recorded at the famous Club Citta, Kawasaki, Japan on the Damned If You Do world tour. Tracks 1 through 4 were mixed and mastered by Chris "The Wizard Collier" (KXM, Whitesnake, Prong, Korn) and Tracks 5 through 14 were mixed & mastered by Kurdt Vanderhoof.

If they had released an EP with 4 new songs priced at $10 I would have purchased it and been extremely happy. This package gives you 4 new songs, leftovers from Damned If You Do, some covers, two live tracks plus four additional digital downloads that are not on the disc when you buy through amazon. What an amazing package for the price!

Highlights:
Dead On The Vine, For No Reason (two new songs), False Flag, 432hz (two leftovers from Damned If You Do) and the live version of Anthem to the Estranged are truly epic tunes.

The extras in the digital download I believe are the same versions from the deluxe XI album: Killing Your Time, Needle and Suture, The Enemy Mind and The Coward but I could be wrong.

A full new studio album would have been great. This collection of new, live, replays and B-sides is just fine by me. I am enjoying the Metal Church ensemble and it gets better with each listen!

I dig the new tracks, although I can't say, after one listen, that it's 5 stars, or near perfect. There are a few instrumentals on here and they rock. There is one song, in particular, that I thought was Way off the charts good, which is the song, False Flag. The rest are good, as well, but not their best work, maybe leftovers from other albums, I guess. The last cover song I didn't like too much, but the other cover songs were very cool to hear. I got the vinyl from Rat Pak Records and though it was a little more than here, it arrived a day or two early, so I won't complain about the extra money. I'm glad they released this album and it's so great to have more from them with Mike, of course and some covers and some b-sides. All in all it's a terrific record, just not anything to compare with XI or Damned If You Do! Thanks, Metal Church for rockin' strong!

Il faut bien le dire puisque ce n'est pas précisé; ce nouvel album de Metal Church ne propose que 4 nouveaux morceaux inédits. L'essentiel de ce disque est formé de covers (de bonne facture) de faces B issues du dernier album et de chutes de studio des deux albums précédents.
Alors évidement c'est du Metal Church, ça dépote et on prend un pied énorme, le groupe ayant retrouvé une nouvelle jeunesse depuis "XI", mais c'est assez déroutant dans l'ensemble.
Par contre, les quatre nouveaux morceaux valent le détour, la reprise de Nazareth est jubilatoire, bref l'album est indispensable pour les fans.
