Product Description

BATTERY INSTALLATION: Twist the end cap off the Arrow Laser Sighting tool counter clockwise to open the battery housing. Insert the three supplied batteries (LR41) into the battery, negative end first. Be certain that the batteries are all facing in the proper direction to ensure proper function of your Arrow Laser Sighting Tool. Turn the end cap clockwise until it is slightly snug. At this point you should visibly see the red laser. If you plan to store the Arrow Laser Sighting Tool for a long period of time without use, remove the batteries to preserve the power.

I have read so many bad reviews about laser bore sighters (including this one) not lining up at all. Well, they do have alignment screws around the opening for the laser. They are there for a reason. You need to align the laser before you use it!

So how do you align it? It is easy. I took a 20 round magazine from my AR-15 and set it on its side on a flat surface. I then turned the laser on and placed the cartridge in one of the deeper grooves in the magazine. I slowly rotated the laser while keeping the magazine in place. As expected, the laser traced a circle on the target because it was out of alignment. I used the alignment screws to make small adjustments until the laser did not trace a circle when rotated, but rather remained a stationary dot.

The farther the distance between the laser and the target, the more accurate this technique would be. I aligned mine at 50 feet (all I had the space for at the time) and I am very happy with the results.

The product does what it is supposed to do and does it well when it is aligned properly. Now granted, there were no instructions included that would tell you how to do that. I will take away a star for that. Should it be aligned properly from the factory? I understand that some rough handling in shipping could affect it a bit, but in my opinion it should be at least close. My original "traced circle" at 50 feet was LARGE. Straight out of the box it would only have been good for driving cats crazy. So we are down to 3 stars, but I do recommend it. Just align it before trying to sight in your rifle.

Please read all of this review as it may provide tips and fixes for your problems along with regular and recent updates added at the end. Originally this item arrived to me defective. The laser would turn on and off sporadically. I had to constantly unscrew the end-cap or lightly tap it to get it to come on; and then hope it stayed on as I placed it in the chamber.

I contacted the distributor (Outdoor Bunker) who without question sent me another one. The new one arrived in a timely manner with a free return shipping label. What I noticed about the new one (aside from slightly different packaging and brass shape) is that the 3 battery cells were shrink-wrapped together like one battery with clear tape. This not only made inserting the batteries easier, but the devise functioned properly right away.

Using this same concept with the old malfunctioning boresighter, I tightly wrapped one layer of tape around the 3 battery cells together atop one another using a small thin clear piece of packing tape that I had cut to match the exact height of the 3 cells. I then inserted them into the laser. To my surprise, the defective unit now functioned flawlessly. I wrote my findings on a note to the vendor before I shipped it back.

Other tips: This laser boresighter does not perform to an exact zero, though it will get you on paper and save the cost of a few rounds. Specifically, due to inconsistencies in manufacturing, each customer will probably experience difference results because the laser is not mounted (glued) perfectly in the center of each shell casing. For example, you could get a completely different result just by turning the casing 180 degrees within your chamber.

I originally bought this product because I own 2 AR-15's and both had scopes on them and I didn't feel like wasting my ammo trying to sight each of them in. Now my original order arrived within the alloted time, I followed the directions on how to use it, unscrewed the end cap inserted the 3 small batteries and bam it worked, then I put the product in the bore of my rifle and low and behold it died and wouldn't work. So I contacted the distributers customer service folks . They were very professional and said they would send me a replacement in the mail that day and a return postage label to return the defective item. 2 days later I recieved 2 replacements instead of one like my original order. I opened the 1st on put the batteries in it and it didn't work. So i opened the 2nd item and did the same, but it to did not work. So again I called the distributers customer service people and the apologized for there product being defective and they asked for my phone number? A hour or 2 later the owner of the company himself calls me ,apologizes again for his product being defective and said he would send me out a replacement, but this time he would have his tech people make sure the replacement item was working. So a few days later I get the final item in the mail and it works just fine and I am a happy camper. If your looking for a boresighter like this one buy this one. It wasn't the distributers fault his item didn't work ,his manufacturer sent him items with the batteries and the batteries were dead. Replacement batteries are inexpensive if u buy them through Amazon only $2.59 for 10

Could not get laser to turn on.

Case is not red. Not that it maters but if the picture doesn't match, how are we suppose to trust that you are buying.

Came with 4 batteries. I tried every combo of batteries to try to get it to work. I even tried all 4 batteries. The cap wouldn't fit but when I tried the laser came on but cap would not screw on.
