Wow, finally a product that actually works!

This is an honest review of this product in hopes it may help others make an informed decision. Been taking the all in one nutritional shake in various flavors for about 3 weeks now, one shake in the morning, one in the afternoon and then I eat a healthy dinner. I picked up some single packets at my local whole foods to try out before buying in bulk. Things I was concerned was taste, digestibility, effectiveness and price. I live a fairly active lifestyle and have tried so many similar products over the course of about 10 years. This product is so far the best I have come across. All the other products I've tried either gave me a stomach ache, made me really bloated and gassy, and or just didn't provide the wholesome nutritional value I was looking for. Since taking this product, I'm getting regular "good" bowel movement, nice sustained energy, no tummy aches or bloating and I think it tastes really good. Here is what I mix it with: unsweetened organic almond milk, frozen RIPE bananas, frozen blueberries, two chopped frozen dates and just a drop of agave nectar mixed in a decent blender(doesn't have to be an expensive one) The agave nectar takes the slight weird taste of the Stevia extract that's in all the shake mix without making the drink overly sweet. Mind you I've tried adding the above ingredients to other nutritional shake mixes but none have lived up to my expectations as this product has. I'm not vegan, not a vegetarian. Just someone that likes to eat on the healthy side so my review is based on that. I highly recommend this product. Go out an buy a one packet at your market(I paid $3 for a single packet) and try it before buying bulk to see if you have similar results. Make sure your fruits are frozen! This goes along ways in making your smoothie really nice and smooth..don't add any ice either. Some helpful hints: buy lots of fruits that are on sale, ripe them in your kitchen then chop em and store in your freezer for use later, if you add chia seeds in your smoothie make sure you use small portions and soak them in water or in your almond milk about 15 mins prior to blending to ensure it passes through your system easily, make sure if you're adding flax seed just to add alittle bit and drink alot of water throughout the day to aid in digestion, I also sometimes add small portions of almonds or cashews to my shake for extra thickness or abit more protein, and lastly make sure after drinking your shake you take it easy for a couple of hours before exercise so you don't cramp up..remember this packet is loaded with protein and other nutrients so your body needs some time to digest it even though it is a smoothie. Hope this helps!

Disappointing new formulation

I have been using the original Vega product for months an loved it. I was excited to see that it had been reformulated. I have tried the Chocolate and the Vanilla Chai and think they both taste fine...not an improvement but not worse either.

I have a hard time understanding their marketing strategy though. Frankly it seems quite dishonest. For the same price you are now getting fewer ounces of Vega per container and they have tried to sell it as an improvement because you only need 1 scoop now and supposedly there are more servings per container. So far so good, until you compare the nutritional information to the old formula and find that the nutrients have been cut in half per serving.

That smells like a marketing scheme to illicit more money from the consumer for less product. I expected better of a product with Brendan Braziers face on it.

Thankfully their are alternatives. I have also been very pleased with the "Raw Meal" from Garden of life. The Raw meal does not taste as good as Vega but when you consume one of these supplements regularity, the lower price point with better nutritional stats starts to make a difference. It is also organic.

Causes significant stomach discomfort

I wanted to like this product; a good source of protein and other essentials for a reasonable price. Unfortunately this product is unusable. Neither my wife nor I can use this product without significant stomach discomfort. We gave it numerous attempts using both the vanilla and chocolate flavors and had to give up. I have two half-full containers that will be going in the trash.

Unbelievable!!! I am a loyal user of Vega One, and I always order from Amazon because the French Vanilla is so hard to come by locally. With the help of this yummy product, I lost > 30 pounds. When my most recent shipment arrived (subscribe & save), my husband kindly made me a shake to take as I ran out to work. YUCK!!! Tasted terrible!!! I though maybe our almond milk was bad and tried again myself the next morning. I noticed on the container that there is a "new even healthier formula". Again, it tasted unimaginably bad. Whether or not the shake now has more health benefits, I will not be experiencing them. I am devasated.
