This is the only scanner I know of that will do 110 negatives. The 110 quality is pretty mediocre, but that's not really the scanner's fault, as indicated by the good quality of the 35mm scans. There just isn't much to work with in that case of 110. Still, it's better than nothing. And I was surprised to find that the negatives had held their color pretty well for 35 years, compared to the completely faded prints of same. This scanner is definitely worth the price.
The main issue is that the image quality that you get in your scans is not good. I have an older, but very high quality Minolta Dimage III scanner which I typically use for 35mm slide and negative scanning. I was hopeful that I'd be getting a scanner which, while maybe not quite as good, would be in the same ballpark - using newer, cheaper technology. Not a chance. Even with relatively large 35mm source material, the Veho VFS-002m only managed mediocre image quality. The lighting is uneven and small details, like faces, are a pixelated mess. Larger details and backgrounds are recognizable, but this isn't scanner which will let you archive your old photos. It's fine for scanning old photos to email or post on Facebook, but the image quality just isn't there to produce acceptable prints. With 110 negatives, the problem is much worse since the source image is about 1/4 the size of 35mm.Read more ›
It's the answer to my dreams and prayers! I have hundreds of 35mm and 110mm negatives
and slides from the 1960's and 1970's, and I've scanned more than 200 images since
this past Friday. I really love the black and white scans! I rate the scanner as excellent, and I recommend it to all of my friends and family! Thanks Veho! Your scanner is great! Thanks Amazon and J&R Music and Computer World for the excellent service!
I pull every single scan into provided software to lighten up. Incredibly tedious. Otherwise the color and contrast and detail are very good. Emailed Veho asking if way
to change the setpoint that scanner uses to adjust brightness and received no answer to either email. Also emailed J&R asking for suggestions or a way to batch adjust the scanned files
and received no response other than a automated email saying they would contact me. Unless you already plan on adjusting every picture you scan which I really did not need to, I would
avoid this unit. My experience is that both seller and manufacturer have poor customer service.
