A Veil of Glass and Rain: Special Edition (A Touch of Cinnamon) (Volume 1) Paperback – Special Edition, January 12, 2015
|New from||Used from|
"A Veil of Glass and Rain is an emotional romance that is beautifully written. Much of the setting is in Rome, giving this story a cool European vibe that was refreshingly different from most romantic reads. It will make readers want to jump onto a plane and travel across the globe. The writing was relaxed and sensual, both in the love scenes and the scenery descriptions."-Readers' Favorite
"There is a love tug of war which will keep readers engaged to see if the characters land in each other arms. Any romantic who loves to travel will enjoy this book." -InD'tale Magazine (June 2015 Issue)
"A Veil of Glass and Rain is a true love story, a story of destiny and desire and how some things are just meant to be." -The Book Magnet

The story takes place in Europe, mostly Italy, and I felt as if I was there due to the vivid and beautifully described scenery and landmarks. I also appreciated the music included in the story and was fascinated with how Ms. March wove it in and out of the plot, the word to the songs as touchingly written as this story.
There are other characters that give the reading depth and I found myself intrigued with their stories as well.
If there were more than 5 stars, I would definitely rank this higher. You will not be disappointed with this book... the love that shows in the writing, the beauty of the words, and the passion and devotion of Brina and Eagan.
An interesting take on a love story. Primarily set in Europe, two children are thrown together by their eccentric and needy artistic parents. The children tho different in age bond immediately and become the closest of friends. Over the years they keep in touch and eventually start to have feelings for each other that they don't divulge to each other and grow apart. Till they eventually come together again and the fire they once had starts to burn brightly a midst a bunch of chaos.
The story is well written and jumps back and forth between present and past which I like, it gives you detailed glimpses into the past which explains when certain things happen in the future. Definitely an enjoyable read!
As the synopsis tells us, Brina and Eagan are children of parents who are beyond self-absorbed, preferring the company of each other and the grind of their work and travel to the daily life of parenthood. This leaves both Brina and Eagan to fend for themselves and allows them to create a bond of love that slowly moves over the years from sibling to deep friends to lovers.
Character development is well done with flashbacks into the character's early lives together and separately. The author delves into the psychological elements of growing up as the quintessential “latchkey kid.” Several issues come forward during the story including dealing with death, trust and in Brina’s case, a slight case of agoraphobia. Each adds a fascinating new layer to an already complex relationship.
Supporting characters are strong and worthy of their own books, which is the intent of the writer. None overpower the story and Petra March gives us only a taste of who they are, just enough to whet our appetites and keep us reading.
It’s the scenery and setting that sets the book apart. The entire story takes place in Italy and the surrounding area. The references and descriptions of life are delightful to read and well-painted for the reader.
I highly recommend A VEIL OF GLASS AND RAIN to anyone who wants a young adult story with a difference.
NOTE: This review is based on the special release copy that was provided me. I recommend the special release version over the original however, both are available at retailers.
Their friendship forms really quickly despite their differences. They are comfortable in their ever growing friendship. Even though they are miles apart they can call one another and if the other one needs them, they will get to the other person quickly as possible.
Brina becomes a teenager, her feelings for Eagan start to change and also deepen. Brina begins to realize her feelings for Eagan are changing into lust for him, but also Brina realizes how those feelings could complicate her friendship with Eagan, she runs away from him and she refuses to call, write or email Eagan.
Years later, Brina is twenty and Eagan is twenty-five, they find one another once again in Rome where they both live. This time he won’t let her run away. What happens when Brina has to confront her feelings for Eagan? Can they have a chance at happiness?
At first I had a hard time getting into this book but things started to happen that kept me going and wanting to finish this book! This book was written well even though it did seem to jump around a bit. The plot of the story is true about young love and how it can be painful. Petra puts a lot of what the characters are feeling into the story. This was a nice change of pace for me to read. I'm not used to reading a book like this. I liked this book a lot. I would recommend this book to all my friends and family.
