Velvet is Adam Lambert's ode to 70's, guitar driven rock and funk music done with a modern twist and accentuated by his distinct and incredible voice. Best known as an international superstar who blew the world away on the eighth season of American Idol. Since then he's gone on to have a fully-fledged solo career, and tour the world with Queen. In addition to his musical achievements, he became the first openly gay artist to chart with a number one album in the US and Canada.

Update: how can one get a copy of "Velvet" and be assured that the song, "New Eyes", will have Adam Lambert's vocals on it... instead of just the instrumental? I have a pre-ordered copy and a replacement both with the same problem... no vocals on "New Eyes". So make sure when you order the cd from Amazon, that "New Eyes" has Lambert's voice on it, along with the instrumentals.
Sorry, I digress from this well crafted CD. In the music I hear a mush-pot of old and new styles and influences. Some of the songs remind me of George Michaels, Todrick Hall, Sia, Sam Smith and Nile Rogers of cause, just to name a few of the influences I heard in the music and style of Adam's singing.
It is so great to hear a guitar solo on a new track produced in 2020!!!
Some of the outstanding tracks are Velvet, Roses, Loverboy, Coming in Hot, Love Don't, Overglow, New Eyes (with vocals), but it is on the slower tracks that Adam raises the stakes, Closer to You, Feel Something and the sultry and soulful - On the Moon
Over all Adam Lambert has proven he is here to stay and his artistry can only go from strength to strength from here on in.
P.S My copy of the CD also only had the instrumental version track of New Eyes, but since I bought it from Amazon which came with a soft copy version that included the vocal track. I just down loaded that version from Amazon and added to my playlist. Problem solved!

What changed my mind was hearing 'Superpower'. I did a U-turn, because that song more than makes up for the lack of the other two. 'Closer to You' was another song that swayed me, as it was pretty powerful and sounds like it came from the heart. So I bought it.
And I'm so glad I got a dodgy copy where 'New Eyes' doesn't have any vocals. It took me a while to realise it because I kept skipping over it, but when I eventually grit my teeth and sat through it, I smiled when I realised it was all instruments. Don't get me wrong, even without vocals, I hate it, I just hate it that little bit less. So if Amazon are planning on fixing this error, please don't send me a new copy. I'll keep my dodgy one and treasure it, thank you very much.
It's taken a while, and I've been mostly negative, which really doesn't reflect my four stars. So here are the positives: I adore listening to 'Superpower', 'Velvet' which is a nice introduction to the nostalgic theme, 'Closer to You', 'Roses', and 'Love Don't'. I've listened to the latter on repeat for over an hour and, although the first few lines are jarring, it doesn't get old. 'Stranger You Are', 'Loverboy' and 'Overglow' are also good songs, although I wouldn't put them on a loop. I think the quality tails off towards the end. I don't like 'Ready to Run', 'On the Moon', 'Comin' in Hot' and, although 'Feel Something' is actually not a bad song, I don't think it should be at the end of the album. End on a high. I think it should have ended on 'Overglow', and the other songs should have been adjusted so 'Feel Something' was in the middle but not beside 'Closer to You'. Its position makes it sound like a bonus track, which isn't fair to it, even though that's precisely what it is.
Overall, a pretty good album, but not his best.
l waited so long till now expecting Amazon to sort out faulty batch products and finally placed an order this week and got it.
Guess what...the CD is still faulty! I am quite upset about this having to arrange return when I wish to avoid going out, but of course most disappointing I cannot listen to it.
I asked to get another copy but not sure if the next one is good. I will be very disappointed to return it again. Waste of time and effort.
I received the replacement copy just now. It's still the faulty copy!!! So very disappointed, having to deal with return again.
I feel sorry for Adam, this should not happen and nothing to do your incredible talent but this is not dealt properly in sales and fans cannot buy them.
