One thing I liked is that story is being told in 2 different POV’s at the beginning. That was really interesting, because eventually the stories are being combined! I like how the main character Sanaan, kicks some ass! She isn’t like the other girls in other vampire books, she actually gets in there and kicks some major ass, even though she has her problems(but we all do) You can relate to her pain. But when she meets Damon, she learns that she can open up to him.
Let me say that I highly recommend this book to all vampire story fans. It does not disappoint.
Gaston Sanders, Author
I'll start with the main character, Sanaan. I LOVED Sanaan. She was badass but vulnerable. She was as lethal of a predator as a vampire could possibly be but she had an amazing capacity to love. She was flawed, she was broken, she was real. And all of Valente's characters were like that, personable and real, like you could jump into the world of the story and find them right away because you already knew them. Not that I would want to jump into the world of the story, because it's one of danger and peril, evil forces of the Xul versus the legendary Amaranthine vampires. I've read a lot of vampire stories, and I loved Valente's portrayal of them. She dropped in a lot of well-thought out details that didn't leave you with a doubt that THIS is how vampires really are.
I was extremely impressed with how well-written Vendetta was. It had a great plot that kept things moving and changed things up so you never knew what was going to happen next -- in parts, I literally held my breath because of the tension built up by all of the action. There were other scenes where I was holding my breath because of the (yes, sometimes sexual) tension between certain characters. Like Damon... LOVED Damon also. But who wouldn't?
Vendetta kept me turning the pages until I could breathe again. And what an ending... I'm SO happy that there is a sequel. Thank you, Elise Valente, for this awesome read! Totally deserving of five stars. I'd give you more if I could.
