Great deal for good product to avoid hard work, but would have preferred SS

Went through one foot of ice in less than a minute with this adapter, brand new blades and a fully charged 1/2" Milwaukee 18V cordless drill. At zero degrees F and after many holes (same battery) , the chuck loosened - and with an improper regrip, the adapter got a little chewed up, which would not have happened with the stainless one. I would have spent the extra $5-8 for SS, but it would not have shipped in time for a weekend ice trip I was taking. If you have time and a few $ extra, go SS. But this aluminum one did work well, and will continue to do so for a while if I grip it carefully each time.

Good product, made in the USA. One thing worth noting is that this was recommended to buy for the Hiltex 10245 4"x30" Steel Gardening Auger Bit and the hole was too small to put the pin through. Drilling a larger hole isn't a problem as long as you have the right drill bit.

Edit: after using it, my drill stripped the ending and it just keeps sliding now so I wouldn't recommend it for digging out soil. The moment I hit any kind of root my drill pushes it to turn but it ends up bending and ripping apart the material that it's made of.

This product worked flawlessly as you would expect and was of great design and material. But I would suggest buying a adapter with a retainer instead. I drilled 5 holes with my brand new auger and adapter with my drill and the damn thing came unchucked and went down the hole. So don't get skimpy fork out the money to get a good one.

Great product! Received in record time! Only problem, which was my fault. I have two 18 volt milwaukee drills, I decided to use the older Nicad hammer drill. Wrong choice, had plenty of power, but it did not have a ratcheting chuck, needless to say my new Eskimo auger niw sits at the bottom of the lake in 9 ft of water. But it did work fantastic for that one 8inch hole in 16inch thick ice it drilled!
