I love the twists and turns in this story. The fact that it was hard to determine who was trustworthy in the story makes it hard for you to stop reading. The author did an amazing job of showing the transformation of the broken/ fragile Quinn into a strong braver soul ready to do what it takes to protect her family.
Quinn learns more about just how twisted Walker and his crew are but she also learns more about Stone and his protective group. Each of them has had their lives tainted by Walker and want their own vengeance and each has their own specialty to add to the group. There are glimpses of other possibly developing relationships within the group and the sexual tension between Stone and Quinn grows throughout the book. There are several unexpected twists and turns in this installment and the ending is surprising. Ms. Earl weaves a tight story with lots of action and emotion. I cannot wait for book three.
Quinn is on the run from her "brother" Walker and his crew that are after a laptop that belonged to Quinn's father. Luckily Quinn has Stone Myanto on her side and his group of agents that are after Walker.
When Walker begins to get closer to Quinn she knows her time is running out but she can't seem to figure out how he keeps discovering where she is. When Stone is able to capture one of Walker's men what will they learn from him?
Will Quinn ever be able to escape from Walker and keep her family safe?
This story is so heart-wrenching with the tragedy that Quinn and her family have faced at the hands of Walker and his men. There is nothing that Walker won't do to obtain the laptop and it is obvious that he has no heart at all.
I was shocked at the secrets that Raven had hidden from everyone but I was still unclear whether she was the link to Walker or not. I never did fully understand who it was at the end.
I was shocked at how heartless all the men were who worked for Walker.
I loved Stone and how protective he was of Quinn and her family! Quinn really became stronger in this book and I honestly can't wait for the final book to see what happens when they can figure out where to go from here!!
I'm going to start by saying I love stones crew! Each of those guys are crazy, but they are amazing at what they do. I have to say, meeting Diesel was the best. I couldn't help but laugh.
Stone was still his amazing self. Really understanding of of the things Quinn has been through, and doing everything he could to keep her safe. He was a total dark knight.
Quinn comes more into her self in this one. I loved seeing her artifice and backbone shine, and loved seeing her become someone that wasn't scared but welcomed everything that was going on.
More and more puzzle pieces come together in this book. I was hooked when I started the first page and can say, I couldn't stop until I was finished. There are some twisted moment that really held my attention. I couldn't stop even if I tried.
I wish the author had labeled the different POVs. It wasn't too hard to know, but sometimes it was a little confusing.
Overall, it rocked. There was some darker matter that I loved and I loved meeting the new characters. I can't wait to see Quinn get a happy ending in the next book. 4 stars. #2OCCJD
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Journals Trilogy and helps nudge Quinn and Stone towards their HEA. This part of the trilogy deals with Quinn getting revenge. Quinn has to figure out how far her humanity is willing to go. Stone is still supportive as ever. With the twins in the story, he even acts as a father figure with them. Stone’s crew is very unusual. Spirit is the most interesting women. She shows no emotion while conducting horrible torture. The other crew members each have unique skill sets that work well together.
>This second book is not at all romantic. There are a lot of graphic torture scenes. Still, despite the violence, the romance between Stone and Quinn seems to shine through the negativity. Quinn’s sisters play a larger role, as do her children. Walker’s crew is individualized and they are truly disgusting. This story is not for the faint hearted.
> The book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 stars. This part of the story needed to be told, but was hard to read.
