Aimee picks up her father's trail at Disneyland, where he once worked. She tracks down his second wife, who insists the body found in Mexico was proved decisively, through dental records, to have been her father's. But Aimee still has doubts, and heads to Mexico to learn more.
A reporter who is willing to do whatever it takes to get the story with solid investigative skills, Aimee sometimes seems too credulous and too accepting of help from strangers when she should be suspicious; also, she too often swings between raw courage and confused doubts. But she is determined and leverages her investigative skills and solid smarts to protect herself and others. This tale of a young woman's need to know the truth turns into fast-paced action, with interesting detail about scuba diving and the layers of culture and life in Mexico.
In the interests of full disclosure, I was given a copy of the book in return for a fair review.
The pace and suspense of the story never pauses as Aimee Brent deserts the love of her life to search for a father who murdered her mother and bring him to justice for his crime.
VENGENCE IN MY HEART is the second installment of Hayden's new series and begs the reader to anticipate more adventures in mystery/suspense for Aimee Brent.
Nash Black, author of Games of Death.
I really enjoy this series, they are fast-paced, full of suspense, with plots that twist and turn. I am attached to a few characters from the first book that didn't play a role in the second - hopefully they show up again in book three. I would recommend this book to someone who enjoys a great story line and who isn't faint of heart.
L.C. Hayden is a master at hooking the reader at the end of each chapter and raising the suspense level to the max.
This, the latest of Hayden’s mysteries, does not disappoint.
