When Seconds Count: Forget about keys and numbers. Just bring your finger. Smart.Safe. is not just a secure safe, it's a really fast safe.
Are all fingerprint sensors basically the same? No. Definitely, not. The Smart.Safe. uses an FBI silicon based sensor which employs a 3-D imaging system to generate a detailed fingerprint image. It works for everyone, even those who have had bad experiences with other fingerprint systems. Utilizing a large-area silicon sensor with Anti-Spoof Liveness detection the Smart.Safe. provides the highest performance and security on the market. Most biometric safes rely on inexpensive optical, or small-area sensors which are more susceptible to being fooled or require multiple attempts to recognize your finger. The Verifi Smart.Safe. uses the industry leading "TouchChip TCS1" finger sensor. If a biometric safe does not mention the sensor details, it's usually because their embarrassed.
Biometric Know-How. Zvetco Biometrics is an American engineering company setting the standard in biometrics for over 15 years. Our Verifi line of biometric products are used throughout the world in hundreds of government institutions and corporations. The U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security, Dept. Of Defense, and Dept. of State are just a few who have adopted our Verifi fingerprint devices.
Tamper Alerts: Curious kids or house guests? Tamper alerts keep you informed about unauthorized attempts, backup key access, and failed reset attempts. The Smart.Safe. will notify you of any tampering and log those events with a timestamp.
Self Diagnsotics: The Smart.Safe has its own health monitor. After each use a thorough self-diagnostic is performed. Results along with the battery power remaining are shown to you on the LCD screen. Even when asleep, the Smart.Safe. regularly performs an automated self-check and alerts you immediately if anything is wrong.
AutoLock: If the door is closed, the door is locked. Most safes burden you with remembering to lockup after every use. A common mistake is to close the door and forget to lock it. The Verifi Smart.Safe. employs a unique feature that senses when the door is closed and automatically locks the safe for you.
Nite-Light: When opening the safe a low intensity nite-light softly illuminates the interior of the safe, without blinding you. Within the Verifi Smart.Safe. settings, you can control the duration of light or even turn it off if you wish for a stealthy operation.
No need to use a separate application, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth to interface with your safe and needlessly drain your battery. Smart.Safe.'s intuitive and simple management system is built into the safe. You can add/remove users, customize your user name, change lighting settings, view access logs or check your battery level from the convenience of the Smart.Safe. LCD screen.
Guided Registration: Setup is very easy with our guided enrollment wizard that gives step-by-step instructions on the LCD screen.
Access and Event Logs: As an administrator, you can always recall who opened the safe and when they closed the safe. Even events such as alerts, add/delete users, and diagnostic results are timestamped and saved.

Which is more aggravating, placing your safe close to an outlet or constantly charging batteries?
We did away with both: We demanded more from our engineers and they gave us Pico and Boost power. Two technologies working in tandem to use less power while getting more out of the batteries. This approach allows the Smart.Safe. to operate for years on a single set of batteries and at the same time run key electronics at peak power.
picoPower: It all starts with the brains of the operation, the CPU. The picoPower CPU is designed from the ground up for low power consumption while maintaining cutting edge performance.
Boost Power: Smart.Safe. incorporates Boost power technology to ensure the LCD brightness and motor speed remain constant even when the batteries are nearly depleted.
Anybody can guess a four-digit code. It's a different story to try and fool an FBI fingerprint sensor. For increased security, the Smart.Safe. does not include a keypad for secondary access. Biometric safes that include both a sensor and keypad have little confidence that the fingerprint sensor will always work so they add a keypad and pretend it's an extra feature.
Backup Access: The Smart.Safe. utilizes a high-security cross-cut key for backup access. The mechanical key should be the only backup method for a proper biometric safe.
Keypad Access: An electronic keypad is not a backup to electronic failure.

This thing is a BREEZE (and, frankly, a DELIGHT) to configure for the first time. Someone worked hard to code this thing to spoon-feed you and hold your hand through the setup and it was really one of the best experiences of "setting up" something I've ever had. This convinced me that my extra dollars were well spent.
This thing's blue LCD looking screen has a 2 line "instruction" limit and can fit about 4 or 5 "big" words on the screen at once, truncating words when necessary. When you're in the settings menu, of which there are 10 settings, you press the button on the inside one at a time to scroll through and click the big button on the front when you want to say "OK". Easy peasy.
I've opened and closed this thing probably about 40-50 times already, and NOT ONCE has it stuttered or failed to recognize my fingerprints. It immediately opens after a 1-1.5 second delay to unlock the bars, and tells you WHO opened it, and stores that in a log you can access later. You get what you need, and upon closing, it gives you a diagnostic as to who was last logged in (as you can setup multiple users) and if all systems are working well, ALONG WITH GIVING YOU BATTERY PERCENTILE LEFT. I can't stress enough how important this part is to me. The LAST thing I want, is for me to not know what battery juice I got left - because if it ever came a time I NEEDED it, and I'm sitting here, not knowing about the battery - then to me, the safe is rendered absolutely useless since you can't rely 100% on it.
It also comes with a foam-y soft/padding type liner that you can put on the otherwise barren floor custom cut to the size of the floor of the safe. This was a really nice surprise - so things aren't quite so loud or scratching the floor. I think you can see this in one of my pictures. Also added the pics to give other people a gauge/reference to the actual size of this thing.
I have not had it long enough to know, but apparently whenever the batteries DO start going down past a certain stage - the safe will actually beep (intermittently, I'm told) to alert you to change the batteries. THIS is what I want a safe to do for me. This is why paying extra money for a smart safe is worth it to me. PEACE OF MIND. I know (a) It'll ALWAYS open when I need it to and (b) it's safe from my children ever getting in.
I would say the ONLY thing in the negative sense is, and I didn't know about this until after I bought the safe...a buddy cautioned that since there is no "cover" for the button on the inside which functions as the "toggle operator" , PERHAPS someone could drill a hole into the side of the safe and reset the whole thing from there. I'd love to know from Zvetco (or a representative) if they could answer this concern. not sure if this could be achieved or not - either drilling a hole through it, OR resetting the entire thing just from the button inside, therefore eventually gaining access.
Aside from that concern, which is pretty minimal and not very likely to occur since I will be bolting my safe down soon - this is a GREAT safe and I highly recommend it.
I used 1/16" neoprene rubber edge trim on the two lateral egdes, and graded washers over the oak at the bottom with safety coded unique bolts (think Torx with a twist).
We gave users names and it was very easy. I am very happy that the manufacturer of this safe is a biometrics company, the fingerprint never fails.
This does not mean mechanical details have been neglected either. The mechanical key is four sided, like at the bank vault.
We are getting a second one for documents.
