    I've had this phototherapy light for a while to help combat SAD during the darker months. It has been great and actually works, I even find myself using it while working in a dark room during summer/spring.One issue I had is the stand. The stand that comes with it breaks easily, and I don't like that it only supports one side at a time. I had it on a shelf, the stand fell off and broke unexpectedly. So, I took it upon myself to make a replacement stand that looks nicer and wouldn't easily break.If you're interested in the stand, I put it up for sale on Etsy. Just search for ThreePrint Happy Light Stand and it will probably show up.One other thing - it's very bright, almost too bright. I would prefer being able to change the brightness and color temperature, which I know is available in other models.Overall I'm satisfied and recommend it to anyone struggling with SAD.

Had an issue, called customer service, worked with wonderfully courteous professional (Cheŕry) walked me through resolution process via email: item#, proof of purchase, a picture front and back . I was sent a replacement and will continue to use. Admittedly the process involves a bit of technology aptitude, however easy enough.

    I must admit that when my psychiatrist recommended light therapy a few years ago, I was a little skeptical. I didn’t know what to expect, as I had never heard of a Happy Light. When my insurance wouldn’t cover it, I decided to ask Amazon Claus. 🎅🏾 When I saw how inexpensive they were, I jumped right on it. Boy… I wish I had done so sooner.

    SETUP: No assembly necessary; it’s easy to get started. First, take it out of the packaging. It’s a cute size, lightweight like a tablet. Next, plug it up. The upside to having the power adapter is that you don’t have to keep buying batteries. The sucky part is that it limits where you can put it; it has to stay plugged up or it won’t work. I may buy some Command Strips so that I can hang it on the wall, making it even more convenient & accessible. It has a hole or hook or something on the back that you can use to mount it, but I think the strips will be easier for me & won’t leave a hole in the wall. Finally, turn it on (there’s a button at the top to push). That’s it! CAUTION: IT IS VERY VERY BRIGHT so be ready to avert your eyes BEFORE you turn it on. 😵‍💫

    USE: I typically prop it up on my desk or dresser slightly off-center so that I can still watch TV without inadvertently staring directly at it. I keep it on anywhere from 30 mins to 2 hours. It really is that simple. On a few occasions, i forgot that it was even there lol

    RESULTS: I noticed a difference within the first few days of use, especially when I do a little 15 min afternoon “refresher”. 😌 It didn’t have me doing cartwheels or skipping through poppy fields (not that I expected it to), but I did feel more alert, more focused, not as tired & sluggish as usual. I always feel the best right after a session. Absolutely no unpleasant side effects. Had no problem sleeping that night or any other night.

    I like this thing so much that I gifted one to 2 of my closest friends. :)

    I like this tablet-shaped HappyLight, and I bought it even though I don't think I suffer from seasonal affective disorder. I just wanted a nice full-spectrum light to help keep my circadian rhythm on schedule. I keep it in my bedroom, and I like to turn it on in the morning soon after I wake up. From other reviews, I guess maybe it's not as bright as the recommended light dosage for people with SAD. I don't hold it 6 inches from my face. But it's still quite bright. It's far brighter than any of my lamps or the overhead light in my room. And I can believe the light is "full-spectrum". It's actually a lot whiter than sunlight, and it seems somehow complete.

    I wish it could be mounted on a wall. I'm surprised this did not come up during market research. I would have liked to mount this light on a wall, but the power cord plugs into a hole in the back that juts out from the back of the tablet like half an inch, so if the device is plugged in, then it needs several inches of clearance behind it for the cord. Like a tablet computer, the cord should go in the side of the machine, not the back. Bear this in mind if you are thinking of buying. You cannot lay the device flat against a surface.

    I made peace with the weird position of the power input, and I don't regret the purchase at all. I don't travel with mine. I just have it mounted on a shelf in my TV stand in my bedroom.

    Also, I like to check myself in a mirror using this light. It's very bright, so it completely lights me up. And it's neutral. It doesn't make you look tan like a yellow light. And it doesn't make you look washed out like fluorescent lights. Basically it just shows you the truth the same as sunlight. I don't know if the company has ever marketed their lights for makeup/beauty like that, but it's worth considering.

    It's a good product for the price I think. But if you do suffer from SAD, I recommend you read other reviews about the actual amount of light it emits. It sounds like it's not bright enough. But it is SO bright already. I can't even imagine how much light you are supposed to be getting if this isn't enough.

    I purchased this smaller version to be my "more mobile" back up after having great results with the version that comes on an adjustable stand, which I have right next to my treadmill, positioned close to my face while powerwalking first thing in morning. I am one who struggles with mood in winter, w/the decrease in natural sunlight in Minnesota. These lamps set my circadian rhythm and I've found my sleep quality has also improved, according to my wearable's readings. I've been using both for 4 months, since October. I brought this smaller lamp with me on several trips, to keep consistent. Typically, the days I am working on campus, I wake and immediately use the treadmill and the larger lamp for 30 min. On my remote days, I use this smaller one while having coffee (just different routines). Both lamps are outstanding. This tool will be a permanent fixture in my daily life. i feel much more grounded and centered compared to previous winters. I also confirmed w/my eye doctor it is safe for me to use.

    Not even kidding, thing thing has changed my life.
    I grew up in Southern California and moved to Eastern Canada 6 years ago. For the past couple of years I've been noticing low energy and just overall sadness that would come over me in the winters and I figured it was just the crappy Quebec weather. I then started hearing about Seasonal Affective Disorder a few years back, but didn't think that I had it. Low and behold, the sadness this year got really terrible (and I am a generally happy person), so I decided to get this light (I've heard about these types of lights before) just for the reason that I wanted to get better and wanted to try the light therapy method. I have a background in psychology and I am always extremely skeptical about products that are meant to help and whether the placebo effect goes into play. So I try my best to stay as objective as possible and kind of expect things to not work and then see what happens. Well, this light is incredible. The first morning that I had it, I put it on right after waking up and I gave it 20 min, but it actually annoyed me, so I figured it won't work, but I'll entertain the idea and give it a go at the office. Game changer. I put it on as directed at 10 or 2 at the proper distance from the face for 30 min and actually found it really, very pleasant (but fyi, it is very bright). I then turned it off, and a funny thing started to happen, I started to miss it being on!! I was very surprised. When I put it back on, it was overly stimulating at the 10 or 2 position, but I really wanted it on, so I put it behind me (a foot behind me at about an 8 or 4 position if looking at a clock and 12 being my computer screen). It was amazing. I left it on for 6-8 hours and I couldn't go without it for a week. Now I use it when I feel I need it, so maybe 2-3 hours some days, some more, some not at all. We have had very little sunshine this winter and I recommend to anyone that is even remotely entertaining the thought to try a lamp like this to not even hesitate. It's amazing!!! And this one is the size of a tablet, so it fits anywhere and very light to carry, not flimsy or fragile at all, well built.

    Amazingly, as soon as I sent the information requested, customer service informed me that the company would be sending me a new light! I darn near cried because I wanted my light working again so badly. This is a great company that values quality of service as much as quality of product. The product is of high quality. Can’t believe the price I paid for it… almost felt like I robbed the place when it arrived after my original order.

    Love this company and product so much I used my American account to send Verilux Happy Lights to loved one. It’s the kind of gift people don’t know they need until they have it and then wonder how they ever lived without it. My mom sits with her light every morning while she does her makeup (I was kind of wondering her secret to upping her makeup game).

    I use this on particularly dark winter days and feel it does help with SAD. The stand that comes with it is rather useless. Was constantly falling off, didn’t do a good job of propping up the light in a stable way, and then just broke. I hope Verilux improved this on newer versions

    I am a sleepy person. so sleepy. I can get 4 hours of sleep, 8 hours, or 12 hours and wake up sleepy. Because of COVID I work at home and the sleepiness is even more intense. I dont have the luxury of my walk to the train to get that dose of early sun, the vibrancy of my commute to make me feel alive and part of society, my coworkers laughing and chatting to make me feel warm and happy. It definitely reduces my sleepiness and as a result helps with my focus at work. And this is coming from the worlds sleepiest person. Especially that post-lunch sleepy, that's the worst. If I use the lamp early enough in the morning, the itis isn't as bad. But it has to be early for me, like within an hour of waking up. I think that's the key.
