Veronica Franco is a very strong, independent, intelligent woman. She's creative, gifted, witty, stubborn, proud, and very passionate. She's confident, isn't afraid to speak her mind, and she definitely will not let anyone, especially not a man, walk all over her. Yes, Veronica is a courtesan, but she's so much more than that, she was a wonderful heroine and I truly loved her!
Veronica COURTESAN is full of seduction, power, strength, lessons, and love. It was a new reading experience for me because I usually only read about one hero and one heroine, but this book challenged that norm for me and won. It was obvious how much Veronica loved her men and visa versa. There was truly love and affection there and while it would've have seemed crazy to me before I read this book, it actually worked out. It is a beautiful, amazing book, I really enjoyed reading it and I can't wait to read the next book in the series!!
Veronica COURTESAN is a standalone, it's only told from Veronica's POV, and it might not be the most orthodox of HEAs, it is one nevertheless and a beautiful one at that.

Daiko's strength lies in her ability to conjure up the time period with Veronica's mesmerizing voice. The courtesan's cadence and mindset coalesce well to suggest a formidable woman who does not fear enjoyment on a sensual level; one can almost see her winking suggestively at the reader when she describes one of her bawdy romps. Daiko's Veronica thoroughly enjoys what she does--she finds her passion and turns it into a career--like all the good self-help books dictate:) Daiko paints her as a woman before her time and she does her justice.
In turn, obviously, Daiko enjoys writing in this format; her credibility from a historical standpoint soars as the pages turn and her Veronica is revealed, not just from an erotic perspective, but from a three-dimensional construct of the woman and her objective.
As Veronica trades sex for favors, thoroughly loving her patrons, Daiko includes quite a bit of smoldering sensuality. However, she does so in a way that fits in with the story line--as information as to the goings-on in the world of courtesans. She handles such scenes with finesse, yet manages to titillate in the same way as Anne Rice in her early Sleeping Beauty series (Sleeping Beauty trilogy set (Volume 1 2 3)). Those who enjoy the genre of erotica will find Veronica and her sensibilities captivating and hopefully will earmark all of Daiko's future installments to her Fragrant Courtesan series.
Bottom line? In "Veronica: Fragrant Courtesans Book One." author Siobhan Daiko finds her voice; its rich, unafraid and fully capable of rolling the reader within the folds of a magic carpet and then ferrying him/her to unknown places where opulence, intelligence and adventure rule. Keep in mind that "Veronica" is a work of erotica that weaves sexual interludes into the storyline masterfully. Those who enjoyed In the Company of the Courtesan: A Novel will find Veronica's voice similar in its ability to bring the world of 16th century Venice to life. Recommended.

It's a story about a woman and her struggle to make her mark in this world where men rule and women serve their need. Forget everything and get in the world of Veronica and her love story.
