I wanted to read Veronica COURTESAN as soon as I saw one of the teasers for it! It was super hot and I couldn't wait to read it! It turned out to be a lot different than what I expected or have gotten used to with historical romances, but it was a very good surprise. I have to say that this book is definitely one of the most unique and one of the hottest historical romances that I have ever read and I absolutely loved it!!

Veronica Franco is a very strong, independent, intelligent woman. She's creative, gifted, witty, stubborn, proud, and very passionate. She's confident, isn't afraid to speak her mind, and she definitely will not let anyone, especially not a man, walk all over her. Yes, Veronica is a courtesan, but she's so much more than that, she was a wonderful heroine and I truly loved her!

Veronica COURTESAN is full of seduction, power, strength, lessons, and love. It was a new reading experience for me because I usually only read about one hero and one heroine, but this book challenged that norm for me and won. It was obvious how much Veronica loved her men and visa versa. There was truly love and affection there and while it would've have seemed crazy to me before I read this book, it actually worked out. It is a beautiful, amazing book, I really enjoyed reading it and I can't wait to read the next book in the series!!

Veronica COURTESAN is a standalone, it's only told from Veronica's POV, and it might not be the most orthodox of HEAs, it is one nevertheless and a beautiful one at that.

In "Veronica: Fragrant Courtesans Book One," Siobhan Daiko (Lady of Asolo, The Orchid Tree) uses the magic of her first person narration to transport the reader to 16th century Venice and the world of Veronica Franco, one of the most "honored" courtesans of her time. Unwilling to be locked up as a possession of her husband as other wives of the period, the historical Franco utilizes her wit and refinement to entice her beloved patrons for a coveted role in public life as a poetess and intellectual. Daiko channels her fictive Veronica authentically with believable descriptions of her life and world as well as the challenges she faces as a woman who values her freedom above all things and will not kowtow to a man on any level for fear of losing her advantage. Brava!

Daiko's strength lies in her ability to conjure up the time period with Veronica's mesmerizing voice. The courtesan's cadence and mindset coalesce well to suggest a formidable woman who does not fear enjoyment on a sensual level; one can almost see her winking suggestively at the reader when she describes one of her bawdy romps. Daiko's Veronica thoroughly enjoys what she does--she finds her passion and turns it into a career--like all the good self-help books dictate:) Daiko paints her as a woman before her time and she does her justice.

In turn, obviously, Daiko enjoys writing in this format; her credibility from a historical standpoint soars as the pages turn and her Veronica is revealed, not just from an erotic perspective, but from a three-dimensional construct of the woman and her objective.

Sumptuous, erotic faction that has definitely left me wanting more. I have read other books that tell the story of Veronica Franco a Venetian courtesan. This book dares to go to places that others have simply hinted at. Siobhan Daiko makes history sexy and believable. Steamier than fifty shades this is definitely not a book to read on the school run as one mother asked if I was well and remarked on how flushed I looked!

I loved this book, it was gifted to me by the author for a honest review. Siobhan Daiko was a new author to me but what a great author she thoroughly researched her story. My history of this time is not very good and I wondered at times what some of the things mentioned in the book were. I fell in love with Veronica she was a strong personality and at times I wanted her to end up with one of the characters then another was introduced and I wanted her with that one. There is all kinds of sex from Bdsm to FF/mfm so something for everyone. I will certainly read books by this author again.

My very first Siobhan Daiko's book and I am no at all disappointed. I have always loved historical romance and this one topped it. It was a very fresh erotic book. Never read a book like this. The writing, the surroundings are so beautifully written and described is so very unique and beautiful. You will fall in love with her writing!!

It's a story about a woman and her struggle to make her mark in this world where men rule and women serve their need. Forget everything and get in the world of Veronica and her love story.

I was given an ARC to review and I recommend you aquaint yourself with "Veronica", the book is clearly well researched to bring this period of Venetian history alive for the reader. Based on a real life courtesan in 16th century Venice this story of Veronica Franco is fiction woven around fact. I loved her as a character and enjoyed this creation of her life. She is both fiesty and determined but this does not detract from her warmth, although she admits to one true love, she loves all of her "clients" in her own way and embraces the welfare of her household. The story is very erotic and explores a myriad of sexual fantancies as befits the world of a sex worker, however the writing is such that it is never sleazy but rather sensual and generous. There are a vast number of books now being released in this genre, some are excellently written, some are rubbish, this book is most definately in the first catagory, it is definately a hot read, you will never look at Murano glass or goose fat in the same way again!!
