The Versa Flow was designed to be as versatile as you. It easily adapts to your lifestyle. It can be screwed onto a plastic water bottle, used inline with your hydration pack, used as a gravity system, or you can drink directly from the water source.
The Versa Flow water filter is one of the lightest personal water filters on the market. Weighing in at only 2 ounces you don’t have to worry about adding weight to your pack or try to find a dedicated spot for it. It will fit virtually anywhere. This water filter is perfect for backpacking, hiking, camping, travel, survivor and emergency preparedness.
Although lightweight, it is heavy in features. Every filter is built to exacting standards and exceeds EPA standards for filtration. The Versa Flow has many tiny tubes called hollow fiber. Hollow fiber works through size exclusion. The hollow fiber has thousands of tiny holes (0.1 microns) that block 99.9999% of harmful bacteria, Giardia, E. coli, protozoan cysts, Cryptosporidium and more. These organisms are too large to fit through the 0.1 micron holes. Some manufacturers filter the water through the core of the hollow fiber tubes, but this restricts water flow because of the tiny core opening. We filter water through the outside of the tubes by bending the hollow fiber. This dramatically increases the surface area and flow rate of the filter while protecting the filter integrity itself. If the core of the tubes become clogged from sediment on the competitors filter you can no longer use the filter. The Versa Flow allows you to be able to backlash the filter, clearing out all of the particulate and increasing the lifespan of the filter. If you backlash the filter you can use it almost indefinitely. This means no additional filters, cartridges, pumps, iodine drops, or batteries to ever buy again.

Having used water filter pumps, straws, and bottles, I have to say that I much prefer gravity filtration. It's easier and I end up filtering more water, which means staying hydrated. I'm very much looking forward to using this filter while backpacking (via a modified dry bag), and I already have it set up for car camping via the bucket mount.

Although the Versa Flow is the best compact filter option currently available... It is not perfect...
1st) I wish it had built in threads on the OUT flow side. Why aren't companies doing this?
2nd) I also would like a threaded option on the gravity bag adapter (some bladders have standard bottle threads i.e. Cnoc)
I solved both of the above with a two simple modifications. I use Smart/Life water bottles for backpacking and decided to try and modify their flat caps to fit the Versa Flow system. First, I drilled a hole in one cap (use a uni-bit and keep the cap on the empty water bottle while drilling so it's easier to hold on to) to fit around the threads of the intake bulkhead. I drilled a hole in a second cap to fit around the lip where the out flow gasket/cap sits. The bulkhead then screws onto my Cnoc water bladder and the outflow cap screws onto my water bottle. I fill the bladder with dirty water, hang from a tree branch, undo the hose clamp, and the water flow straight into my drinking bottle without any spillage! The outflow cap can be held on when not in use by the rubber gasket/endcap.
When I saw this I knew it was a clone of Sawyers system and at about half the price, I knew I had to try it. When I received this I compared it to one of my Sawyers and the design is almost the same. This seems to be very well built and works the exact same as the Sawyer. It has multiple configuration options such as inline from a hydration pack, screwed on top of any standard drink bottle, gravity feed system or just use it as a straw to drink from the source.
So how does it match up to the Sawyer you might ask, I would say pretty well but it is not quite as good in my opinion. First of all the this is only rated for 20,000 liters or 5283.4 Gallons of water. The Sawyer is rated to 100,000 Gallons.
They both state that they can be backflushed to increase life but the Sawyer includes a syringe to accomplish that task this did not.
Overall both are fantastic products and a filter like this is a must have for anyone who is out in the woods or just in case of emergency. The Sawyer is about double the price of this with just slightly more features. Are the extras the Sawyer offers worth double the cost? That's up to you, I love them both.
I would like to disclose that I received this as a discounted rate for review purposes. This in no way influenced my rating or review of this product.
The ability to screw on a 2 liter bottle or mount a hose to a plastic bucket(or any rigid container really) makes this incredibly useful and gives you a lot of flexibility.
With clean water being crucial to human life, this is quite a lot of power in such a tiny package. I have one in every car and backpack, as well as some for the home.
