Here we have the Epistle Dedicatory as found only in the Cambridge editions. We have Oxford quality maps at the end pages. We have 60 pages of note pages!! Plus 4 more flyleafs for even more notes! More than any other Bible this reveiwer has ever seen. More than my Cambridge wide margin. *Although to be fair, the Cambridge edition in my library does have heavier stock for the note pages, but not for the flyleafs.
This World / Heritage edition features:
* Dark print so as to make reading a joy. (7 or 8 point type)
* Center column cross-references.
* Wide Margins all around: 1.50" inner, top and outer; 1.75 bottom; plus the design allows this Bible to lay very "flat" enabling the note-taker to make better than average use of the inner margin.
* Messianic Prophecies are identified by a star at the end of appropriate verses.
* Eight pages of maps are included (Oxford style)
* Gold filigree page edges and interior cover edges add a sense of quality
* One silk ribbon marker helps the reader find their place
While the genuine leather does not "feel" as supple as some others, it is pigskin afterall, it does have a more substantial feel in the hand. At least this is my opinion.
The weight and size are not too cumbersome to allow one to take this edition to church. It is, however, a bit larger (wider) than a standard Bible. Therefore, if you are looking for a Bible cover, I would recommend a large or extra large housing for this Bible.
Includes a 126 page concordance!
Drawbacks would be that the pages do show the reverse page in some spots.
Albeit, the pages do appear thick enough to accept a pencil note taking system or "dry" highlighter; ink is NOT recommended.
This is a double column text - "Without words of Christ in red." Fans of single columns and red ink delineations should stay clear.
Type font may be less than desirable for those with poor vision or aging eyes due to the 7 or 8 point face. **6 point font is what makes up the center column**
Book divisions do Not begin on a new page. This is standard with Cambridge Bibles, but for those who prefer a fresh page to begin the next book, you will not find it here in all cases.
The concordance is adequate but in EXTREMELY small type! 4 or 5 point at best. This allows for a greater number of references, but can cause a bit of eye strain.
Overall, I give this Bible 5 stars for the craftmanship and quality of its construction; the size of margins (note space) and general aesthetic.
Thank you for reading this review. I hope that it proves useful in your decision to purchase a wide margin Bible.
