BEST for features, worst longevity

I've had this case for something like 10 years and it finally started peeling so badly that it was flaking uncontrollably all over the place. I tried to take some sand paper to it, figured it would have that "shabby chic" feel, and at that point, the material was so far disintegrated that it was beyond repair. I'll also mention that with both of these cases I purchased 1 of the corner straps broke. I do stretch the straps to their breaking point in order to slip a reading light behind them and having 3/4 straps was never an issue for me. With that being said, I suppose 10 years is an alright life expectancy, and considering I cannot find another case with the corner straps that allow me to use my book light, and the little pocket AND make it look like a book, I'll take it.... again. So, here I am, after spending 3 days searching for a new case and returning 2 other cases, buying this case for a third time. I will tell you why I like it so much.
1- it looks cool! It looks like a book!
...now on to more important reasons why even though it doesn't last well, this is the best case out there.
2- The straps make it possible to use any clip light I want. I just slip it behind the kindle so the front of the clip isn't clipped to the actual device, it's clipped to the back panel only.
3- It feels like a book experience. I feel like I really am reading a regular book in my hands, or as much as I can expect to feel like when reading anything electronic. It feels good, nice strong back and front panels. It's also easy to flip the front cover and hold it with one hand.
4- It protects the kindle well! 10 years with this device, been a lot of places and it still protects it well!
5- the pocket on the left side!!! NONE of the other kindle cases I've seen offer anything like this! When reading with one hand occasionally I'll use it a bit like a handhold, but it's nice to have the option to slip a little paper in there. A couple of times I've been reading and needed to take a little note and didn't have anywhere else to put it, thank goodness for the pocket.

So, all and all 4/5 stars might be a little harsh, especially considering the price point, but what can I say? I'm a tough customer!

Great look and feel

I have 3 covers that I use somewhat interchangeably. I have had this cover for my Kindle Paperwhite for almost exactly a year. I have no way of knowing for sure, but I suspect that I use my Kindle much more than the average Kindle owner. I read on it almost daily and travel often. I have used this case around the house as well as on the road under a variety of conditions. Overall, I really like this case a lot and would recommend it to any Kindle owner.

The Pro's:
-- Best looking cover for my Kindle.
-- The straps hold the Kindle snugly
-- I love the feel of BOTH the material lining the inside of the case as well as the outside.

The Con's:
-- Compared to automatic wake/sleep covers, it is difficult to wake up the Kindle or put it to sleep. I would like it to put the Kindle into sleep mode and awaken it like the Amazon leather cover does (by simply opening and closing the cover).
-- As the case has broken in, the binding has become less stiff and more flexible. This is not a bad thing by itself, but the binding has gotten "floppy" enough that the front cover will not align symmetrically with the back cover.

This cover only suffers by comparison with other covers, which if they didn't exist, would make me give this product 5 stars.

Another leather cover I have (and use as often), looks and feels much cheaper than this one does, but it apparently has a stiff flexible support hidden inside the binding that has kept it from loosing the stiffness that keeps the front cover aligned well while the binding of this cover has gotten floppy. On the other hand, I think that aging process that has unfortunately left the binding loose and floppy does make it look and feel better. By the way, by binding, I am referring to the spine of the book, not the straps that hold the Kindle in place; the straps that keep the Kindle in the case are still very snug and tight despite the fact that I change cases relatively often.

The Amazon leather case looks and feels the worst of all the cases I own, but it is the most functional of all because it has the automatic sleep/wake function and the smallest footprint and the best fit.

If somebody could combine the best of the three covers I use interchangeably, I would have the perfect Kindle case. Until that happens, however, I would recommend this cover to any Kindle user.

I just fell in love with this design and when I received my Kindle Fire HD, there was no way it was going to fit in that little cover!!!! It actually hung over!!! Please make the covers to fit the Kindle!! I ordered a new one and I'm praying it fits my Kindle. It's nothing pretty, but I need something to protect it it right now, I will look elsewhere for different designs!! And I had to pay shipping both way, which isn't fair at all because it was way to small for the product!!!! Very misleading and I'm not happy about paying over $14 bucks in shipping!!! So, I hope in the future you might follow Nook and come up with better designs for the Kindle!! I didn't like the elastic straps that are to secure the Kindle as well. It was just cheap looking. Very unhappy with the selection on Kindle covers!!! For as long as this has been out, am I the only one to complain?? But then again, I've owned all the Nook products...and their covers rock!! Ok, so figured out this whole Kindle cover issue!! I was helped by Amazon & first off, I was sent the wrong cover, you have to look for specific dimensions for your Kindle, even the girl helping me didn't realize that they had 2 different size Kindle Fire HD's. So, make sure to check the size!! I got my cover re-ordered and hopefully, it's going to be the right one and I can write a great review on that awesome looking cover!!! I do love Amazon and that's why I always shop here!!!

I have to admit I was in 2 minds about buying this based on the other reviews however I am 90% happy with the product which arrived very quickly. The feel is of good enough quality and it looks attractive in a traditionally designed way which is exactly what I was looking for.

I have not had it long enough to be aware of any marks being left on the kindle from the 4 corner fixing straps that others have reported however I think I can cope with the eventuality of that given any resell value will be minimal anyway.

So thE reason why I am not giving 5 stars is that

1. It does not have a locking strap to keep the cover closed when not in use - a simple button / popper to keep it closed would be perfect; and
2. It is a little bulky .. I am picking here but I think just 1cm smaller would make it less bulky.

Would I buy again .. ProbAbly, if it had the closing strap.

Tengo que decir que el estilo de la funda me encanta, el estampado no es del todo blanco y negro, es mas bien un color crudo y gris oscuro, y junto con el cuero del lateral del lomo, tiene un aire vintage que me ha gustado mucho y que me ha resultado mucho mas bonito que el blanco y negro, mas frio, que imaginaba viendo la foto,.
No le doy las 5 estrellas porque las gomas interiores que sujetan el kindle no me han acabado mucho porque son solo eso, gomas. Tengo tambien una funda marware eco-flip y las gomas estan forradas de cuero en la parte que queda sobre el kindle y esteem detalle me gusta mucho mas.
Del tamaño decir que queda un dedo mas ancha que la eco-flip.
El interior es muy suave y tiene un bolsillo para poner algun papel o similar bastante grande pero ajustado.
tambien decir que se abre muy bien y es muy comoda para leer con una mano.
Yo la volveria a comprar.

Pros: Buena funda, muy realista y realizada con buenos materiales. Exterior de goma (parece piel) e interior de forro suave. Los prensores tienen en su interior unas tiras de silicona para que no se deslice (aún no tengo el kindle y no puedo comprobar su nivel de fijación).

Contras: Se puede plegar, pero no es demasiado flexible. La solapa puede servir para introducir los dedos cuando se dobla la tapa, pero también es poco flexible (está claro que se ha concebido para introducir papel, no la mano). La serigrafía dorada está mal hecha, tanto en la tapa como en el canto (me da la impresión de que no es sólo el mío, sino que viene de serie, aunque así es más realista). Además, parece propenso a las manchas, ya que viene una zona un poco oscura y no creo que pueda quitarla (no sé si es una mancha, efecto de la goma, defecto del material...). Le vendría genial un imán para mantener la tapa cerrada pegada al kindle.

Ich mag die Optik dieser Hülle sehr und so stand es schnell für mich fest : DIE und KEINE ANDERE !

Als sie einige Tage später bei mir ankam, hab ich mich sehr gefreut. Die Hülle fühlt sich robust an und ist sehr fest. Die Goldprägung und das eingebrannte Muster sehen wirklich in real sehr edel aus (laut anderen Rezensionen soll diese auch nach langem Gebrauch noch erhalten bleiben, das freut mich sehr). Es ist ein schönes glattes Leder, das gut in der Hand liegt und sich ebenfalls so gut anfühlt.
Im zugeklappten Zustand sieht es danna uch tatsächlich fast täuschend echt wie ein altes Buch aus ;-)

Der Kindle Touch passt haargenau rein, die Bänder halten in fest und er rutscht noch wackelt nicht darin. Und auch indem er dadrin steckt, lässt er sich noch gut in die Hand nehmen und lesen ohne sperrig oder schwer zu sein.

Laut anderen Rezensionen soll das schwarze Innenleder ein wenig abfärben. Wer den Kindle nicht aus der Hülle nimmt, der wird das eh nicht sehen, ansonsten hab ich einmal sicherheitshalber einfach ein Stück Papier dazwischen geschoben, so kann einem das auch auf keinem Fall passieren... man brauch sich nur zu helfen wissen.

Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit dieser Hülle und sie macht den Kindle nun zu einem echten Schmuckstück !!!

Ho aspettato un po' prima di scrivere la recensione per vedere la resa a lungo termine. Sono una lettrice accanita e approfitto anche dei tempi di spostamento con il bus. A distanza di 4 mesi il materiale di copertura ancora regge bene, si è un po' sporcato perché l'esterno assorbe, i disegni sono belli e così il mio kindle sembra un blocco notes non stimolando furti. Gli elastici ai lati tengono fermamente e il kindle è ben protetto.
Ha un grosso vantaggio che penso dovrebbe essere copiato migliorandolo, l'elastico che chiude la custodia può essere usato per infilarci la mano, in questo modo riesco a leggere anche in piedi sul bus senza rischiare che qualcuno urtandomi faccia cadere il kindle, con l'altra mano mi tengo ai sostegni, fantastico!!!! Perché scrivo che deve essere migliorato? Perché l'elastico, pensato solo per chiudere, utilizzato in questo modo si è leggermente (appena appena per ora) allentato, l'ideale sarebbe mettere una fascia un po' più resistente all'interno della copertina in modo che girandola all'indietro permetta di infilarci la mano. E ora veniamo al prezzo..... un po' cara come del resto tutte le custodie kindle, ne ho vista un'altra per meno ma non ha l'elastico,fascia,sostegno posteriore che serve a me e quindi per ora questa è l'unica che soddisfa le mie esigenze, il materiale è complessivamente molto resistente, non si è ancora rovinato nonostante l'uso intensivo (veramente intensivo), lo sporco lo levo cancellandolo con una gomma.
