This would work also really well on a balcony: you can place the plant stand in a corner, fill it with as many plant pots as you like and save some precious floor space. It holds plant pots with different dimensions too as you can bend the metal rings to keep smaller pots in place. Product Dimensions: 27.2 x 17.5 x 4 inches Product materials: Frame: Steel, Polyester powder coating Ring: Steel, Polyamide, Polyester powder coating Feet: Steel, Polypropylene, Polyester powder coating This item requires basic assembly

The holder opening is 4.5 " and there is 5 1/2" between the posts.
The assembled height is 64" and width is 27 1/2" and depth (of the legs) is 17 3/4"
The holes on the legs DO NOT need to line up with the holes on the poles as it is a friction connection.
There are slots on the connecting poles to help line up the other assembly screws but I still had one that was not quite lined up.
There are un-welded sections leaving room for water intrusion.
Assembly tips: Assemble all plant holders first with all the screws on the same side so not completely tighten the screws to allow the to slide easily on the poles. Before attaching the upper poles make sure you place the pot holders on the poles in the correct order. When placing the pot holders on the poles keep all the screws on the same side (so you don't have to keep going around and around). Don't screw together the poles until all pot holders are in place.
Overall, happy with the purchase but wish it was just a little better quality or was 100% aluminum.
I'm a 47 year old woman with a skill experience level with this kind of product of a 10. I have put dozens of similar products together over the years. I would give the difficulty on this product a 3. The assembly wasn't hard as much as tedious. There are a lot of tiny nuts and tiny screws for the rings. I decided to do it as I went so that I didn't have to take anything apart if I screwed up. You have to push the very tiny nut with your finger while you make the ring and tiny screw line up. The nut has to be facing the right direction. If you have problems with your hands of any kind or arthritis, you may find this product difficult to put together. Also you have to think about where each ring will go and which piece to tighten first once you are close to the end. You have to leave some of the screws loose until the very end. It's actually a really nicely designed product, it just requires a lot of patience and thought to put it together. Also everything is based on applying pressure. I am unable to tightly screw things in so I had to use my drill to tighten the screws fully once I had everything in the right place. I forgot to add on plastic ring and I was able to stretch it over the metal pole with some effort which was good. I didn't have to take anything back apart at any point. I'm not at all sure why someone said this had to be used outside, this is an indoor/outdoor product for sure. It's beautiful once assembled. It comes with sticky pads on the bottom to protect wood floors. It pivots so you can use it straight or use it in a corner. I would suggest putting those on at the start if you are assembling on a wood floor, assembly requires a little maneuvering of the feet which are metal. I'm going to use mine outside to grow singly grown onions. This would be excellent for herbs. I would have loved to have the option of more rings because for onions I easily could have put 5 more rings on here. For flowers the number of rings is perfect, it has 13. In the winter I will bring it inside and use it decoratively, I will have to come up with a creative way since I want to use it every summer to grow onions. If I had little kids I would say crayons, pens, etc. although it is not sturdy enough for a small child to pull on it without it falling over. I'll come up with something.
Now that I have it together, I'm considering buying a second. I don't know about the Ikea product mentioned but this is sturdy metal. I find Ikea generally has thinner metal so that may be the price difference, it could just be higher priced. If you are using this indoors, Ikea may do the trick at half the price even if it's thinner metal but this is definitely a nice quality product.
