The bag is constructed of a very high quality, anti rip type nylon fabric which appears very thick, and very sturdy. All of the zippers are YKK, and if you know about zippers, then you know YKK is the best. Which is good because the pull strap is attached directly to a zipper, and consequently will carry the load when pulling the bag around.
The orbital strap design of this bag is very unique as it allows for the entire bag to be pulled to your front side for access to its contents without removing the bag from your shoulder, additionally the main pockets are oriented on the side of the bag for easy access while wearing the bag. The front of the bag has a zippered flap that can be tucked away, revealing a molle panel, as well as contains two buckle/loops that can be attached to the rear bag for carrying a jacket, or helmet. The second pocket from the front has a zippered pouch, and and admin area, as well as plenty of room to hold items such as headphones, a tablet, gloves, hats, etc. The third pocket from the front has a hook and loop field, a strap for carrying a laptop, as well as plenty of room for notebooks, and a couple velcro pockets for items such as charge cable, and portable battery charger, for example.
Finally, the last pocket, on the rear of the bag allows for the back end of the bag has hook and loop field for mounting your CCW items, or could also be used as a primary laptop area.
The best part about this bag is the extremely rapid access to your CCW. I was able to pull the bag around and draw as fast as I can IWB. Which is the result of the Oribtal strap design, and the pull tab that hangs in a very accessible area. However, I returned this bag for one unfortunate reason, and that reason is the single strap design was not sufficient for as many things as I want to carry every day. After a laptop, headphones, notebooks, pens, and a few other things, The bag was just too much weight on a single shoulder for me to be comfortable.
High quality Nylon Fabric
Rapid CCW access
Only that I carry too much stuff.
First, the material in contact with the body is slippery. There's nothing to grip and stay put. When I would bend over to pick something up off the ground, the whole pack would slide forward and almost fall off. It just moved on me too much. I want it to stay put unless I move it.
Second, the lack of easy access, closed admin pouches. On all my other sling packs, I can rotate it around, unzip a pocket and retrieve my often-accessed stuff, like my wallet. In this pack, I have to unzip a large compartment, then access an internal pouch, only one of which has a zipper. The other two pouches only have a little piece of Velcro keeping the flap down. There is nowhere to keep, say, change. I tried and it was flying around the interior in minutes.
I'm a long-time sling pack user and cannot move forward with one that shifts so much and doesn't have external, easy access compartments.
I went ahead and purchased the Vertx bag and found that the fit and ease of use is perfect. Not only does the CZ Scorpion fit with a 30 round magazine but it also fits 1 spare 30 round magazine in a Velcro holder, in the same compartment.
The efficient design of this compact bag, gives me full carry options as well as the simple grab-and-go capability that I desired. The bag is easy in the orbital rotation from back to front when walking, standing, or sitting. However, you must make sure you have the strap at a proper fit.
The inside pockets that you might use for pens, pencils, knifes, and other similar devices could be a little larger for a proper fit of weapon magazines. I don't know if they will hold magazines for Glocks, Smith & Wesson, or Springfields. I just know they will not hold magazines for a CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1. But if you find magazine holders, with Velcro backs, that will hold the EVO magazine you can secure them in another pocket of the bag.
Now that I have the Vertx EDC I thought a bottle holder would be nice to have on the outside, but remembering the reason for the bag, I felt this would only compromise the low profile that was one of my criteria.
I have only had the Vertx EDC Commuter Bag for a short time but I can tell that it will fit my every need perfectly. I would purchase the bag again even with the cost being a little high for my pocketbook.
NOTE: Have had the Vertx EDC Commuter for 6 months and I am even more happy with the bag. It is perfect for me and I take it everywhere.
In January 2017 I purchased another Vertx EDC Commuter Bag. I keep one in the trunk of my vehicle and the other I have when using public transportation. I have found this bag to be everything I wanted and more.
The only thing missing are a couple side/quick access pockets. I ordered a strap pouch to throw my phone and wallet in but with all the bells and whistles this bag has it's surprising that there were a couple small pockets thrown on the side.
