Editorial Reviews

2010 two CD collection from the Irish outfit, the true fathers of Celtic Rock. Founded in Dublin during 1970 as a quintet playing a brand of Folk-based Rock music whose only parallel could be found in the early work of Fairport Convention. Horslips drew on their distinctly Irish roots, and were capable of playing straight Folk material when the moment called for it, but weren't afraid to turn up loud and hard, in the best art-rock style, on the right songs. With all their most famous tracks in a superb gatefold digipack, this release will be a joy to all Horslips fans. 34 tracks.

Quite simply the best overview of this groundbreaking Irish group, compiled by the members themselves and released on their own label, so they actually profit from it, unlike the other "best of's" which they don't get a penny from. This is the one!

I wish that every group would put together a collection like this of their material. Great selections and sound, this is the perfect compilation of a truly wonderful, yet obscure band. Irish Rock? Horslips was way ahead of U2 and the Waterboys. Highly recommended!

Horslips could have been the next Jethro Tull. The band certainly had the melodies and songs with seamless combination of loud and acoustic instrumentation - similar to Tull Folk rock era albums and Led Zep Album Four. But it remained a largely unknown cult Irish band due to some twist in fate . Perhaps it lacked a showy front man.
Treasury is a long album with 34 tracks but barely has a wasted one. The album sounds fresh and up to date .
It ranks high in lost classics
