And how cool is it to learn how far back the lore goes? My daughter loved things like learning the national animal of Scotland is a unicorn. We are Scottish, so this is like an extra badge of pride.
The wording isn't overwhelming and the pictures keep your interest. The book is just long enough to get the point across. My kid has read this book and the mermaid one about 5 times each now.
And the thing I like most is it keeps the lore going. There's still room for "what if."
It is fascinating to hear why different countries believed in this magical creature!
