I was updating my VSC series and ordered this one. I was very pleased with the transaction, and with the disc itself. I'm a completist, so that was the main reason I bought it, but the artists have worked to create a very enjoyable Holiday listen. Let's face it, there are only a handful of Christmas songs and back in the day, every artist HAD to release a Christmas record. Today, not so much. They write new songs, hit or miss, and depending on the quality of the song, whether it will join the canon of Christmas songs that last! I love 'The Little Drummer Boy' by Sean Kingston. He made this classic stand out! I also enjoy other artists like Carrie Underwood, Colbie Caillet & Vanessa Hudgens. The entire CD is good, and the price is right.

I got this CD on amazon.com for $9.99. I know the money goes for a good cause, so I was hopeful. I'm not familiar with most of the artists, but my favorite tracks on this CD are:

Silent Night

Little Drummer Boy with a Jamaican beat was interestring. Silent Night has all the verses. Miley's Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree is okay, at least Britney and the Jonas Brothers aren't on this CD. It just seems this edition took a different turn from the first three in this series. A decent follow up, but not great like the first three VSC CDs were.

I love the songs on this CD! I played this CD all throughout the Christmas holidays. I specially liked "Winter Wonderland" (Vanessa Hudgens); "The Christmas Song" (Charice); and "Santa Baby" (Kellie Pickler). It must have been the way these artists performed each song -- with lots of feeling and for the first two, a very soothing and sweet voice.

I hope they will be included again when another volume (Volume 8) is added to "A Very Special Christmas" CD series.

Now that I know that some of the proceeds go to the Special Olympics, I will be on the lookout for this series every Christmas from now on.

Refresh change in style from traditional singing

I purchased this CD because my kid's school teacher play some of the songs (e.g., Miley Cyrus' version of Rockin' Around Christmas Tree). I listened to all the songs in the CD, with an open mind that the singers are young and will sing with their style. With that the CD is a refreshing change. Definitely I see would be a problem if I have the mindset of comparing with the traditional versions.

Not the greatest music CD for Christmas for me, but kids love it and that's what this collection is for.
