The JIS Standard DOES make a difference!

I service vintage audio equipment. Much of it is made in Japan. This JIS standard screwdriver fits most of the screws in the equipment that I work on better than any of the other high quality screwdrivers that I own. A friend recommended this JIS screwdriver and, frankly, I am surprised at how much of a difference it makes. It fits those Japanese screw heads perfectly without any slop that can lead to a stripped screw. It is now my favorite screwdriver. i just ordered another smaller size for those really small screws found on portable equipment.

I am a cabinet builder. If you are like me as one who was tired of your #2 American Phillips Screwdriver "caming-out" when you needed to turn that Phillips Screw without slippage, then your search is over. The Salice Brand of invisible Hinges that we use in our shop come with the Salice Brand of a #2 Phillips Screwdriver that is used to adjust the hinges up and down & line up the top and bottom of the doors. Well, while pushing hard against the adjustment screw many times we would get the annoying cam-out which would strip the head of the screw and cause lost time when needing to work and get cabinets out quickly. After an online Search I found this VESSEL (JIS) Japanese Industrial Standard #2 Screwdriver here on Amazon and thought why not try it and see if it slips. NO cam-out, NO slippage! PROBLEM SOLVED!! This Screwdriver fits tight and turns the Phillips Screw perfectly when the Screwdriver that comes with the Screw fails the test. We have already bought more of these for other workers in the shop they will pay for themselves because they are saving labor! LOVE THESE VESSEL SCREWDRIVERS!!!

I will always buy JIS screw drivers now

I did not know this but American screw drivers were originally designed to "cam out" at a certain torque. This would prevent factory workers from stripping out screws holes as their screw drivers would lift out of the screw before the torque got too high. Good idea, I guess, but now if you have a tough screw to get out you have to push down really hard to keep the driver in and to prevent ruining the head of the screw. I always thought that was just the way it was, not so. JIS screw drivers will stay in the screw no matter what torque is put on them. All you force can go toward turning the screwdriver and not trying to keep it in the screw. Dump all of your American screw driver and switch to JIS.
