Derrel Cockerham’s Vessel: Light of the Balance is no different, in its engaging portrayal of two narratives set in a fantasy world that is well crafted and replete with allusions to mythological forerunners throughout world literarure.
In assessing how many stars to finally give this book, I looked at the thoughts some of my fellow reviewers have left behind, and if I’m conjecturing correctly, they really enjoyed the narrative aspect of this book, but gave it one less star due to either some slight issues in the textual formatting, or the confusion engendered by the dual plot line.
I feel the same way when leaving my review...I can’t ignore the fact that this book needs done light editing, but I want to point out it’s truly engaging and fantastically engaging nature. Moreover, as a student of mythological narratives I enjoyed the tastes of inspiration of world folklore.
Two stories in one book, two not so different stories merged into one memorable book, many readers will surely question that decision from the author to intertwined two different stories in one main plot but I think part of that is when you think you are having a bad time at a certain time, someone somewhere is having a similar struggle than you, just like in the book, we all struggles against hardships and so much more and for different reasons too, could be for your own health, for family or even the fate of your own home, and that’s when balance finally comes to the spotlight.
I like this book, it was very interesting and both stories possess something so unique and at the same time familiar, it was a pleasure to read this amazing story, the two sides of the coin are waiting for you.
Derrel Cockerham has an interesting book that tells two different tales of characters finding their own balance in their individual situations. There were times in this book that I liked the dual-story and some of the parallel coincidences, but there were other times that it seemed like too much and I found myself confused trying to keep the stories straight because some things were too similar and some were pieced together in an odd way. Overall, it’s an interesting concept and the story itself is entertaining. The author clearly put a lot of work into setting up these two heroes in a way that they would eventually intersect, and the effort and effect is impressive. The writing itself was very good and the descriptions were just enough without being too overwhelming in an already complicated story. I actually ended up really liking this book, and would definitely recommend giving a try.
This novel is written with an excellent writing style that is sure to please fantasy and science fiction lovers. It’s a little bit of a long read, 519 pages, so you’ll need to set aside some time for it. If you’re looking for an adventurous novel to try out, definitely keep this one in mind.
Aerofer, the main character of the first story, is in a coma and is trying to find his own balance. The second story is about Parsicus, who is trying to save the nation from the unfortunate circumstance. You will really enjoy reading both stories and even see how the stories are connected with one another. It is a great story from the very beginning all the way to the end.
