It is a story of corporate jealousy at the highest levels, greed, spite, vengeance, advanced technology, medicine, love and betrayal, and the very essence of life itself.

WOW - that is a lot to cover in one book! Read this book - you will be glad you did.

In this edition we've changed the language used to US English.  However since some of the characters are English or Australian we've used their  idiom and, if a written note is quoted, their spelling. Americans use terms  like elevator, couch and a sedan with a trunk driving on a blacktop road. The  English refer to a lift, a settee and a saloon with a boot on a tarmac road.
We started work on the A Vested Interest series in 2007. Since  then a lot of the 'science fiction' in the story has become reality. There is  now a much greater cure rate for CML; drones are rapidly approaching mosquito  size; the virus responsible for HIV is being used to insert genes;  nanotechnology is becoming more 'real' to everyone. As to immortality, some  experts in the field believe that the first person to live to 1,000 is alive now. In medicine the word 'senolytics' may not mean much to you now, but it will  mean a lot soon.
As to our sci-fi, we haven't run out of ideas so there will be  more books in the series.

I like the fact that this story is not a Harliquen romance, while it is a romance story there is a realism to it. Reality, most of us believe in love, yet life happens, love is not always easy day in and day out.

This seems such a simple story at first. A doctor has a row with her employer and quits. Then she gets shot at and escapes to England with a friend who's rich, good looking and intelligent - a simple romance with the sort of man every girl dreams of right? Wrong! This is the first of a book series. I've read four of them so far and can't believe how many twists and turns there are in the story. Nothing is as you expect it to be. The heroine seems to succeed in producing a genetically engineered virus designed to keep people young forever but just as it's ready to be tested, she's killed! What do they do? Try it out on her of course!

And then... suddenly you're at the end of the book and you don't know if the virus worked! Talk about a cliffhanger. You just HAVE to get the next book to find out. I'll give you a hint - the second book is just the same - full of twists, and another cliffhanger.

Donna is a genetic scientist who quits her job at the start of the book. She then gets whisked away to London for her safety. This begins her journey into a world of secret orders, medical and technological advances beyond those known by the world, evil villans and secrets from her own past.

I picked up this book for free and am now half way through book #2. I read some of the reviews and wanted to make some comments.

First, yes, there are many references that include medical terms and technology terms. The authors weave this into the story very well. If medical/technology based details bother you; maybe you should avoid this series. I actually really enjoyed the technology angle- it is very fun to think about some of the things people have created in the authors world!

Second, the history and depth of the story line really drags you in. There are many unanswered things and from the looks of it around 8 books in the series to exapand upon the world!

Third, my biggest complaint is the character relationships. Donna, Ricky, Sam and Gary all come across as extremely immature when it comes to relationships/romance. I spent alot of time rolling my eyes at the ways these characters interacted with each other and felt like I was on a flash back to high school or maybe a bit of Gossip Girl inserted into the story. Gary tells Donna that he thinks Sam likes her. Ricky falls immediately in love with Donna with out any explanation and he breaks up with his current girlfriend that very day. Sam and Donna talk on the phone late night and he tells her that he loves her. All of this happens within a few days!

Overall, the story so far is interesting and fun. I did have to do a bit of glossing over the relationship aspects because it did not feel realistic for mature adults- but that has not ruined the story for me.

This book got me hooked! The characters are real. The plot is elusive but tantalizing. If you like books that entertain with a little romance and devious characters then read this book. But beware...you will be hooked and will have to read the next one!

The Vested Interest series is amazing. There is a little bit of every fiction genre in each book. If like a book that sucks you in and won't let go, then these novels by John and Sheila Chapman are some of the best out there. I can't wait until # 9 comes out. Sheila has also written a trilogy called Blood of the Rainbow: Raging Storm. This tells the story of one of the main characters prior to Vested Interest. You will want to read all of these books in order. Each one picks up where the last one left off. On Kindle, you can get samples of the books, but you won't need samples after you read this first book. You'll just grab the next one.

This story begins with an immediate hook that leaves you fully immersed in the plot. As the story builds, an intricate web of story elements is revealed. There is action abound, artistically interspersed with complicated relationships, echoes form the past, glimpses into the future and most notably secrets! There is an intriguing overlay of technology that gives the story an element of believability. The romantic element that evolved into a full-scale love triangle served as a nice backdrop to the ever building twists and turns to the plot! This book was an enjoyable read that held my focus!

I truly wish I had known of the earlier books before I read this one, his was so well written and the characters so deep I can't believe that I hadn't heard of it. I can't wait to continue the story and will share this with my friends.
