08/12/2014 - Still going strong! No issues after 2 years or so!
I just wish the heater was a bit smaller like the Hydor!
1. Super easy to install
2. Instructions are easy to follow
3. This heater clicks on when the temperature in my fish tank gets below 78 degrees.
4. Has an easy dial to use.
5. Comes with suction cups to attach it to the side of your aquarium
A little bit of an eye sore but my fish love it and it keeps the temperature where I need it. Would recommend.
The thermostat has been consistent for me - which is the most important concern with cheap heaters. The 5 gallon I'm using this on has kept a consistent and appropriate temperature.
The temperature adjustment is easy to turn, and the setting is large and easy to read. In fact, this has the best display of any thermometer I have seen in the under-$50 range. All my other heaters have scales that are indecipherable once actually in the tank.
I previously have bought 50w Hydors (a commonly recommended 'brand-name') and have nothing but frustration with them. Inconsistent temperatures, difficult adjustments, and premature failures.
There are a couple downsides. The temperature scale is totally out of sync with the thermostat. This seems typical for this class of heater - always set it by your tank thermometer, don't rely on the scale! Secondly, it's a bit large - it takes up more physical space than some other brand-name heaters. But these are minor nits.
I'll likely be returning to buy more of these in the future.

This heater looks great! Unfortunately it MUST be plugged into a GFCI outlet... the product description doesn't tell you that, but the instructions do. Read morePublished 3 days ago by Amazon Customer
LOUD click noise when turning off and on. Can hear it in the next room. Keeps tank heated but is loud when clicking on and off. My refrigerator is quieter than this thing.Published 22 days ago by Brian Polito
After just a few weeks of use, the ViaAqua heater exploded in my fish tank killing my cichlids in my 20 gal tank. I am very upset! I would not recommend buying this product. Read morePublished 24 days ago by Keberos
