So, back to the standard D'Addario until I saw a review on the Vibe's. They have great marketing and lot's of discussion about longer life and better tone, so I thought I would give them a shot. So they arrived and after a couple weeks got ready to string them up. The first thing I noticed which I missed when I purchased them, was a "made in China" sticker on the back... (sigh). So with trepidation I powered through and restrung with them.Read more ›

I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation. A review was not promised to the supplier in exchange for the sample but I stated that if I provided a review that it would be fair and honest.
For one thing the sound was a lot brighter after restringing the guitar. It sounded like a different instrument. I will be honest, it still sounded like an inexpensive guitar, but a BETTER inexpensive guitar.
I did not notice a lot of difference in sustain. It may have been the way the CD-60CE is made, or the fact that it is an entry level instrument that was not destined to have much sustain to begin with.
The critical factor is sound and these improved that. The guitar stays in tune longer too. However, since I have not had these stings on the guitar for long that may change. If so, I will update this review accordingly. The feel took me some getting use to, but I am not someone who plays a lot, so that may just be due to my level of [in]experience. The only thing I can say with certainty is the strings took a low end guitar and improved it.
If you are looking for a high quality, musical set of strings that last long without being coated like Elixir's, then you should definitely give these strings a try.
I played 3 outdoor gigs recently using the Vibes (the medium gauge) and I noticed a couple of things. It's been hot and very humid here in New Jersey- right there that's gonna make strings go dead almost instantly. But not the Vibes. I was amazed at how they still maintained a bright sound after the beating I gave them. Compared to D'Addario strings which I have an endorsement with, my complaint over the years has beenthe bottom wound E, A D and the G go dead after a gig, even in cool weather.
Now these strings might be a touch more in price than others but, I would have had to change 3 times (I hate changing strings).
The only slight negative I have is the gauges are not listed the same as I'm used to. The medium is actually a Light Gauge 12- 52. So you would have to buy the Heavy Gauge for a set of Mediums (13-56), Just make sure you look at the gauges before buying.
If solid fundamental tone and durability is important, these strings are a definite cut above others that I've tried over the years. I'm impressed. 5 "Bright and Warm" Stars here.
Pros: Sound great
Easy to play
Made in America
Great customer service
After purchasing these strings I received an email from Vibe with installation instructions then another email to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase. I didn't get this kind of customer service when I purchased my car or truck. These people want your business and work hard to get it. I purchased another set for my other guitar as well.

got them, put them on, and they sound wonderful. The action isn't as soft
as I'd hoped, but an improvement over medium gauge with no drop in sound
I bought a "cheap guitar" to use on stage because I didn't want to drag my Martin around. On a whim, I put Vibe strings (.010's) on it and will never go back. Read morePublished 8 days ago by Connie Carroll
