This is a good product.
I like them so much I am thinking of using them for cycling gloves to replace a pair of well worn, old Sorbothane cycling gloves. Perhaps too much padding, but I will try to report back after some use.
Just know that they are slightly undersized, with the large pair a somewhat tight fit for my large size hands. Nothing excessive, really, just a little snug and not too tight to make me return them for the larger size (if available). I have updated (25 October) my review to note that the leather has stretched with use to fit fine now, so smaller may be better in this regard. They seem to include extensions of the leather palms on the two middle fingers for removing the gloves from the hands, a nice touch.
Follow up from a few years of use bicycling, June 2017. These are the best cycling gloves I have yet to find, other than the old Sorbothane gloves from 20-30 years ago. Unfortunately the Sorbothane gloves are no longer made, so I have gone through multiple gel, non-gel, and even unpadded bicycle gloves. Some pricey ones and the gel either quickly wears to nothing, or is not in the right places to prevent numbing. The Superior gloves are thickly padded, much more so than normal bicycle gloves. The padding covers the palms nearly completely throughout the tough goatskin. The stitching is solid, and the back, while not sweat absorbing, breathes well. I have hand washed them using dish soap, followed by Obenauf's leather treatment (also highly recommended), as they tend to reek after my near daily 40 mile round trip commute, much like all gloves.
Only minor thing with bicycling is that they are still a little tight initially, and tend to cause pain in the webs of my fingers. A few days of use and they stretch out to comfort, much like a Brooks saddle.
I will buy no other gloves, they are that good.
Update from October 2019:
Still using my original pair along with several more pairs I rotate through on a daily basis. Since I use them for daily bicycle commuting, they tend to get a bit odiferous rather quickly, thus the rotation. The original pair still work as designed, albeit with the thinning of the padding. Just enough that I can feel some reduction in dampening, but not enough to toss them just yet.
I cut the Velcro portion off of each glove since I found it to catch on things and it makes it easier to take the gloves off.
I have resorted to machine washing on delicate cycle with warm water, along with my usual cycling garb. Warm water seems to help with odor removal for both gloves and clothing, ignoring the clothing manufacturer recommendations of cold water. Then I set them outside to dry in the sun for 1-2 days. I have applied Obenauf's leather treatment about twice to each glove and they still come through the wash soft, not at all stiff. Something to the goatskin?
Still highly recommended but still suggest ordering up a size.
I wanted to love these so bad, all the good reviews had me anxiously waiting for these in the mail to solve all my sanding problems. At first I tried to convince myself they might be helping, but don't do any more than my bare hand. I would go back and forth, glove on, glove off, glove on, glove off, and there is clearly no difference.
My 6" Porter Cable 4.5 amp sander bucks like a bronco and this did nothing to help.
What should have been a wide open layup: my 5" Dewalt random orbit sander and 5" Milwaukee random orbit sander are relatively smooth to use and this did nothing again!!! I couldn't believe it didn't even make a difference on higher grit sandpaper on smooth wood, even that low vibration was not reduced.
There are some pros:
*They look cool
*If you don't get the size up like all the other reviewers say to they should give you that cool feeling you get when you put on tight workout gloves
*Leather seems nice and no fingertips so I can answer my phone or manage screws
*Tabs for removing gloves work great
*Surprisingly warm for my cold winter woodshop
But you know what isn't a pro? Anything related to vibration-reduction!!! I would never have bought these to only function as work gloves (I already have work gloves!), but that's all I got when what I wanted was vibration gloves.
I think I'm going to buy some gel and ask my wife to sew me some because I have a bad feeling none of these I've looked at would be effective if even these which I had such high hopes for aren't effective.
