I want to preface this by saying I am a mocha skinned Black woman (Nigerian and African American) with an oily t-zone and a genetic pre-disposition to hyperpigmentation. Also, I am writing this during the Chicago winter wherein my skintone becomes obviously uneven and pallid due to the lack of sunlight.

Search: I really wanted to find something that addressed hyperpigmentation, particularly for highly melanted skin. Since many posts were not explicit about what Vicco Turmeric Skin Cream could do for brown women, I wanted to take a chance and see how it might work for me.

Cost: I bought it at the Chicago Macy's (we have a Merz Apothecary which is the same vendor as Smallflower on amazon. com ) It cost me about $7, but it was so worth it. It was way cheaper than hauling cosmetics that only aggravated my skin or jeopardizing my health with horrible bleaching creams.

Smell: I enjoy Ayurvedic products so the smell is fine to me. Just sort of earthy but also a little cosmetic.

Results: I pair the rose hip seed oil with the cream (being dark, the cream makes my skin looks whitish without it and actually gets a little shinier with out the seed oil as a base) in the morning and night. I had a dark patch of scars and aggravated skin (from scrubbing and concealing) on my left cheek that made me very self-conscious. After using the cream for about 4 days now, I can actually see the entire patch has dramatically lightened to the point where I can distinctly see the scars that I was originally trying to reduce (and they are also fading quickly) which were hidden under the larger patch of darkened, irritated skin. The scars around my temples are fading as well as evening my skintone in general.

Warning to all - this cream comes in 4 different sizes and some of the sellers don't indicate size on purpose (like this page!). It ranges from 30 mg to 80 mg and hence cost can vary greatly. Make sure you see the cream size ( 30 mg/ 50 mg/ 70 mg/ 80 mg) and do the math with shipping!

I ordered this item from two different sellers: YourIndianShopUSA and SimplyBeautiful. There is a 3 cents difference price-wise. The first one was listed as 50g, the latter mentioned no size but was very similar in price and was listed on the same page as an alternative. I received the one from SimplyBeautiful--and it is 30g.

Granted it is my fault for not paying closer attention, but the way these two are lumped together, and are nearly identical in price, and especially the way the latter does not mention size is all really misleading. I don't blame the seller, I doubt it was intentional, and even if so, it is ultimately the responsibility of the buyer (i.e. me) ...anyways, buyer beware!

As for the product itself--fast absorbing, great matte solution for oily skin, produces an instant brightening/covering-up/evening-out upon application. I'm rather skeptical of it having any actual lasting effects, but it suffices beautifully as a simple basic basic basic moisturizer for the low maintenance gal. Happy shopping!

This cream is unbelievable! I have been having massive pimples or cysts on my face surrounding my lower mouth/chin area. This started back in June around the time I was putting mulch in my flower beds so I think I got something from the mulch which resulted in small cyst like pimples that wouldn't go away. Nothing I used worked and the cysts would spread if they broke open, oozed clear liquid; but looked like pimples. My skin was also flaking off in that area, was dry and red. Makeup just aggravated it and I wouldn't go out of the house for about 2 weeks, it got so bad. Finally, I saw an article online about Vicco Tumeric Cream so I reviewed all the reviews and was impressed. I purchased it on Oct 27th and it arrived Nov 10th which was a pleasant surprise! So I washed my face and put it on last night around 4pm. By 10pm, the redness toned down to a very mild pink, my skin was hydrated and less flakey, and the cysts were 75% gone. I am not kidding. Before bed, I applied another dab just on the cysts and this morning looked even better. Still have a few bumps but nowhere near the amounts as before. Like many other reviewers of this product, I don't care for the smell and I am assuming it's the sandalwood but I am so please with the results that I will get used to it and it really doesn't last more than a hour. The cream is an egg yellow from the turmeric but doesn't show on your skin or change your makeup. It absorbs quickly and is non greasy unlike other moisturizers I have used. My makeup has been on now for 6 hours and is still not oily which is amazing as I have oily skin on the T-zone. Needless to say I am very pleased with the results in less than 24 hours. I will add more after a week or two of use. I would definitely recommend.

I had great results after having a terrible boil on my face that left a scar. You can't tell that it was ever there. My skin tone is African American.

I ordered this turmeric skin cream because I have tried their Vicco toothpaste before and like it. So I thought that the Vicco lotion must also be nice and a natural product. I used it for about a month and like the fact that it's non-greasy and goes on smoothly.

But yesterday I checked the ingredient list out of curiosity. I noticed that the lotion includes Methyl Paraben Sodium and Propyl Paraben, which are harmful preservatives according to the Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database ([...]). Harmful ingredients like this get absorbed by the skin and enter the bloodstream.

For sure I will not use this lotion anymore, even though I liked the smell of it and its lightweight feel. I wonder why they use a chemical preservative, since they could just use Vitamin C and E as a natural alternative.
