"Siqveland writes with fire and passion, buthis characters are also convincing in scenes of quiet reflection, love, and tenderness."-Forward Clarion Reviews
"The reader has a lot to learn from this story and, besides writing a great story with powerful plot lines, the author has a gift for insightful and powerful reflections on life."READERS' FAVORITE"
The Vicissitudes of Fortune is a story of values, a symbolic tale of an ideal society and what the world would be like without racism. Bob Siqveland's book can be read from many different angles but the reader can't escape the compelling narrative voice that calls for a gentle revolution, for a struggle to build a community where justice and equality reign. It is a sharp protest against racism and its message comes across powerfully; it is very relevant to the contemporary political landscape. The prose is crisp and beautiful, injected with a lot of insight; the characters are exemplary but very relatable, and the plot has its surprises." READERS' FAVORITE

Engaging characters and crisp dialogue provide enlightening background on subjects as diverse as native American history, Medicare scams, treatment of Japanese Americans during World War II, politics, social inequity and race relations.
Bob’s often stream-of-consciousness writing includes philosophical thoughts and anecdotes which highlight the theme of justice / injustice in all forms. ultimately it’s a reminder of how dignity and character can make a difference in our world.
With Vicissitudes of Fortune Mr. Siqveland has taken off the wraps and let his writing practically burst off the page like a ruptured dam. While his first novel was a an example of tight, well-constructed storytelling, this new one literally jumps off the page with a kind of raw, untamed energy. Switching from more conventional narrative to directly addressing the reader, Mr. Siqveland bounces through this tale of a band of brothers with an exuberance that is both refreshing and page-turning. I highly recommend you read this and consider yourself lucky, for it really is a tale for the turn of the century and a look into not only what our past has wrought, but also what our future might bring.
Steve Browne (author of How To Raise A Rocket Scientist for Fun and Profit)
Growing up in Minnesota in the sixties, I was reminded of the Native American ordeals, the anti-Viet Nam issues and the rest of
what went on back then.
He tells a good story and his main characters are believable and likable.
Good job Bob
