Victor: A Chicago Blaze Hockey Romance Kindle Edition
Lindy
They don’t call me Belinda Boring for nothing. It’s my name, after all. And for a 23-year-old with plain brown hair who still lives at home and gets tongue tied over nothing, it’s a fitting one. I’m not even one of those quiet girls with a hidden talent, unless making a mean order of nachos at the NHL arena I work at counts. My life consists of working, reading and harboring a secret crush on a hockey player who doesn’t know I exist. At least, until we accidentally meet and become unlikely friends.
Victor
I’m living the dream. A poor kid who worked his way into the NHL, I’ll never forget where I came from, though I try to. My past follows me, a nagging reminder that I’ll never be what everyone thinks I am. As the threat of my secret being exposed looms closer, my game slips, leaving me in danger of being cut from my team--the only family I have. I’m losing my hold on everything when a new friend helps me find hope. She’s nothing like the women I’m used to, but by the time I figure out that’s exactly why she’s right for me, I’ve lost my chance with her. Somehow, I have to convince a woman who thinks she’s invisible that she’s the only one I see.

"Utterly endearing and deeply moving." - Mary, Frolic

Bruce her boss is a real tool. He is always riding people’s a$$es, never giving a, ‘that a boy.’ Her best friend, Ari has her back, pushing the limits, sometimes. This frightens, Lindy because, Ari needs the job because she has, a son. Both ladies hate, Bruce. He wheels his power for bad.
On this one night, she is working from midnight to eight a.m., and she decides, to take a break around, twelve-thirty. She sits behind the player's box, which if a game were being played, she could never dream, of sitting in, due to cost. While sitting there she soon realizes, that Victor her team, crush is still, practicing.
Victor is running scared because he is close to losing his place on the team. From first on the line to third. He now has two games to bring his points up. But, he is playing another game that he is trying to out running concerning his past. He's not sure if he can keep all the plates spinning on the sticks. That is until he meets Lindy on her break sitting in an arena seat.
He's amazed at how knowledgeable she is about hockey. Check. Also, he is surprised by the fact that she is not all gah-gah over him. Check. Most of all she is astute when it comes, to giving the critique of her observation. This being since his slump started, and, how she could see what he wasn’t doing, and what he was, since said slump. Check.
What a good book did not see the twist that came out, but not in such a painful way. Very good.
I enjoyed getting to know Victor and Lindy and seeing their “Cinderella” story blossom. Both characters were entertaining and I appreciated the emotional energy they put into their friendship and the natural progression to a romantic relationship.
There were two things that kept this from being a full 4 star read for me.
1) Victor falls into a fairly common trap for a book in the middle of a series. While we have 2 main characters, their story seems to be as much about bridging parts of the series together as anything. The secondary cast features the heros from the first books and we see where they are now, but there is also a large focus on other secondary characters that I’m sure we will see soon. Ms Rothert does this well and the primary/secondary cast interactions feel organic to the story, but I wanted a little more of just Victor and Lindy.
2) The conflict in the story or should I say the lack of conflict. Yes, there were issues to deal with, but they were resolved easily and with minimal stress to the characters. Victor is a fairly short book, I would have appreciated a little more digging into the conflict issues. I think Victor and Lindy’s bond might have felt more real if they had to work just a little more to deal with a few things.
Overall, Victor is a good read and I did enjoy seeing a slightly different hockey hero. More of a “average” guys makes good type. With a fun meet cute, a good friends, and a little jealousy thrown in, this is one I would recommend to followers of the series. If you are new to the Blaze books, I would suggest starting with Anton or Luca.
Victor just broke up with a high profile actress. Everyone “knows” he lives a perfect life, even after said actress breaks up with him in a not so subtle way. If they only knew the secrets he hides.
Lindy is a 23-year old gal who still lives at home and has a job that she tolerates as it gives her the chance to be closer to her crush. He doesn’t know who she is and besides, what could he want with a boring girl who’s still a virgin?
When their paths cross one night, the two begin a friendship that nobody saw coming, but proves that beauty is the eye of the beholder.
When Victor’s past threatens to tear open the facade, he knows he’s not worthy of the girl he’s fallen for. How will this ever work?
A great story and book 3 in the series by either, Brenda Rothert.
Fans of smart romance stories will love this book.
Victor and Lindy meet while he's going through a hard time in his hockey career, and Lindy is just what he needs to get him out of his rough patch. Lindy is the girl that no one sees, the one with a beautiful soul and a heart of gold, the one who's had a major crush on Victor for years. While they may seem like they come from different backgrounds, they are more similar than people think.
Ms. Rothert has written a beautiful story of friends who became lovers, their story is a slow burning one full of heart and soul. While this may seem like just a regular love story, it is definitely more than that. Without a doubt you can feel that the author thought about this story and treated it with the utmost respect, tenderness, and understanding, she also makes the reader feel every single emotion these characters are going through, something that is not always easy to communicate.
I loved seen Anton, Luca and a few other team members having an important role in Victor's life, we see how close they have become, they are their own little family. One character who's introduced here and I loved was Ari, Lindy's sassy best friend, she's definitely a hoot and I really hope we'll see her again soon.
This story is endearing, compassionate, and it shows us that sometimes in life we need to have the strength to confront the ghosts that are hunting us in order to live the life we deserve. This is a standalone in the Chicago Blaze series but I highly recommend that you read the other two books in this series.

This book has it all. A shy, introverted “normal” girl can will get the hot hockey player.
This book has you rooting for Lindy right from the start. As we get to know Victor, you start to see he is way more than just a hot hickey player.
I was happy, sad, mad, and so many other emotions during this live story.
This is the 2 nd book I’ve read in this series and I love this one even more than my first.
