UPDATE 6/25/15:
After ridding our house of the original problem, my husband and I left the trap where it was since it was enclosed and tucked out of the way. I was in the kitchen last night when somethign caught my eye. I look over to see the little green light flashing. I go to get my husband (way too squeamish to check the trap myself) and sure enough, it had caught another mouse.
We set that thing a year ago. We'd reset the trap after it killed a mouse and put peanut butter on there. After a full YEAR, the trap was still active and still effective. The peanut butter didn't even need to be replenished because the mouse never makes it to far enough to eat it. The absolute best part, however? We didn't even know we had a mouse this time. We never saw a single dropping anywhere.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Let me start by saying that I'm squeamish as hell and a total dork about things. I literally tried everything I could think of to avoid killing the mouse that was laying a zillion little presents on my kitchen counters and stove. Tried a humane trap that ended up being too big so he could slip out. Tried electronic repellants, peppermint, special sprays, nothing worked. Finally after several weeks, I bit the bullet and decided I'd have to kill the little b@stard.
The first day was uneventful and we didn't catch anything. The next morning, I had the lovely surprise of seeing the rodent race past me in the morning so then I knew where it lived. We moved the trap right outside of its hole. The following morning, I saw a little tail poking out of the trap. The green light didn't flash for some reason, but my husband confirmed we'd caught a mouse. He disposed of it then put it back outside of the hole. He didn't rebait it or anything and after another couple of days, I realized the green light was flashing. Sure enough we'd caught another mouse. This time he wiped the metal plates as he saw some urine. He didn't have to rebait it since the mice have yet to make it to eat any of the peanut butter.
I truly didn't want to kill the mice in my house, but I couldn't take cleaning up the droppings. Knowing it would traumatize me to see carnage, I knew there was no way i'd go for the traditional spring traps. Sticky traps are just cruel and I refused to use poison as it's also cruel and you never really know where the mouse will drop dead. It'd be too much for me to handle to stumble over a dead body in the middle of the kitchen or on my counter.
This trap gives me the peace of mind of trapping the mice, killing them swiftly, and keeping me from having to see the dead mouse. As far as I can tell, you don't see any trauma to the mouse, but I'm a dork and refuse to look at it once it's in the trap. I can go grab my husband and have him dispose of it without ever having to see the body.
Definitely worth the $20!
To anyone having issues, follow the suggestions listed in other reviews. I did and have had 0 issues.

4 stars bc product is what it states it is but I don't know about effectiveness yet
At the time of purchase I had killed 2 mice 2 separate times using the Power Kill trap which was effective. I'd set it and get it the next day. We have a fireplace and it has a lot of spaces for mice to get through. I wanted to put this in the area believing it was the point of entry. I purchased one first but have the intention of purchasing 2 more, 1 for garage and other for deck but I don't think it'd be good for the outdoor deck considering it could get wet. I put it where I caught the last 2 mice which were in the same spot. Knock on wood I haven't had to catch one and I will not be mad if I never have to use the product real time. I am not sure if my setting put paper towels behind couches and in the fireplace (unused) with ammonia on them as well as the kitchen floors pantry area, helped deter them from coming in. That was the point.I've posted these pictures just to give a realistic version of the traps size although I am showing only through the original box. There are enough pics already of the box itself. I thought it would be a tad bigger than is. I wear a size 9 in the foot slide shown and have the box placed next to it for length comparison. The yellow box is how it comes packaged and is the extent of the instructions which were efficient.If I have to use it I will update this review. My nephew was playing around the area and his bouncy ball fell behind the couch area. He saw this electronic box and with apprehension and a little fear in his eyes, asked, "auntie if I accidentally touch that box is it going to zap me?" 😁😄😄 I love that he asked and I assured him it wouldn't but stressed it wasn't a toy and told him I'd never intentionally buy anything on purpose and is put it in his way that would zap him or hurt him. He wanted a mouse to come that night so he could witness the effectiveness 😏
