Size and weight comparision: It is lighter and smaller than a multi-tool with a larger primary knife blade. It is as convenient as a folding knife, as it is slightly thicker than one, and the blade can be opened one handed. It is larger than a traditional swiss army knife.
Functions: There is a liner lock on the main blade and bottle opener/large flathead. The blade is serrated on the leading 2/3, and unserrated on the 1/3 closer the pivot. It opens easily with one hand, but closing requires some fumbling, as the liner lock must be pulled towards you if you are righty. Using it lefty, the liner lock can be pushed easily with your thumb.
The plastic handles have a lightly textured surface with good detailing. The blades have a very fine polish.
You have a knife, phillips, awl, can opener/small flatheard, bottle opener/large flathead/wire cutter, and saw, There is no toothpick or tweezer on this version, which I consider a positive, as I rarely used those and frequently lost them.
It's 4.25" long, 1.5" wide, and 0.6" thick. 4.6 oz (130g)
Con: It seems that this knife is designed for left-handed operations (see video). The one hand opening main blade is so comfort to deploy when using my left hand since it is located closer to my thumb when held by the left hand. And the thread lock can be easily pushed open and the main blade be folded back in when holding in my left hand. Probably this is designed on purpose for the air borne soldiers when they have to hold their carbines by the right hand and cut the parachute strings by their left.
All in all, I like this knife and will use it.
The inner aluminum liner is not polished like the SS blades, and had sharp edges I had to round before comfortable use.
Now it's fantastic. Every function works well.
That personal preference aside, this Victorinox folder performs as solidly as my "original". The saw blade is very aggressive and useful; the awl is also very good.
I'd rate it 5 stars if not for the serrated blade. One man's opinion.
Typical Swiss Army quality, this model has an atypical handle in that its grey-black and non-glossy. It bears the German Army Eagle logo. It's got the same smooth action all Swiss Army knives had, and the blade has a thumb-hole for one-handed opening, which is a VERY nice update, so bravo Wenger for that one.
I can't give examples of performance because it was given as a gift, but I'm confident this knife will perform well beyond expectations. I carried a Swiss Army for years on a duty belt before there were multi-tools. It's nice to see their quality is as good as its always been.
