Victorinox Swiss Army, Professional, Men's Watch, Stainless Steel Case, Leather Strap, Swiss Mechanical Manual (Hand-Winding), 24717
A burly timepiece worthy of the Swiss Army name, the Victorinox Swiss Army Men's 24717 SAF Airboss Mach 4 Manual-Winding Watch is a solid mechanical hand-wind watch that can be passed down and enjoyed throughout the generations. This wonderful timepiece kicks off with a round 45mm stainless steel case with a fixed stainless steel bezel and a textured crown at the 4 'o clock position and a prominent functionality pusher at the 2 o' clock position. These elements surround a crisp silver dial, which is protected by a synthetic sapphire crystal and features Arabic numeral minute and hour markers, along with silver-toned luminous hands powered by mechanical hand-wind movement. The dial also features a power reserve indicator in the bottom left quadrant of the dial. This watch will run for up to 56 hours without re-winding. A black leather band straps this watch to the wrist, while a silver-toned buckle clasp ensures its secure placement. Finally, this watch is water resistant up to 330 feet (100 meters). A prominent timepiece that can withstand the tests of time, this watch belongs in your collection.See all Product description

A couple of notes though: First, Amazon is selling grey market Victorinox as they are not an authorized reseller; meaning that these watches come with a 2 year warranty governed by Amazon, not Victorinox (which has a three year warranty). I don't consider this a big deal as the price break more than makes up for any risk associated with the warranties. Second note: though Amazon calls this watch the model 24717, after exchanging emails with Victorinox support, they have informed me that there is no such model number. In fact, if you look at the product photographs closely you'll notice on the back of the case is stamped with the model number 25717. The 25xxx series watches were manufactured to be sold only in Europe. So, the bottom line is that this watch is a European-only model that was imported into the US and is being sold under a model number that is not recognized by Victorinox. While that may seem concerning, the reality is that this watch represents a terrific value - for a few hundred dollars, you get a genuine Victorinox Swiss-made mechanical watch, equal in every way (except color of course) to a watch (the 24372) that is selling for more than twice as much elsewhere on Amazon.
With its beautiful exhibition caseback, the reliable swiss mechanical movement is a joy to look at and fun to wind. Lasting for 56 hours on a full wind, I think this just might be the most accurate movement in any of the watches I own. The lume is incredibly bright and very readable in a dark environment, and the rotating inner bezel that moves from the upper dial is not only functional but a beautiful piece of engineering. Honestly I can't recommend this watch enough. I just got it and already I wear it more than any other watch I own, the calf skin band being so comfortable I've even slept with it on. Can't recommend enough. Buy it.
Variations of the Unitas 6497 movement ( now ETA 6497 )have been used in quite a few fine watches such as Panerei & Tourby for several years with decorative variations, different spring types, differences in adjustability, etc. Remember that this is hand-wound movement and as such should preferably be wound each day. It also is a non-hacking movement that cannot be stopped to precisely set the seconds. The non-hacking is OK with me since I set my quartz watches and expect them to stay almost perfectly set. I have to remember that even my most accurate mechanical watches gain or lose at least a few seconds each day and If I try to obsess over keeping a mechanical watch exact, then I won't have time to obsess over important things... like more watches!
There are other versions of this timepiece, primarily with a black dial and brown strap. Some are recognized by Victorinox and others are not. They are all the same watch. In the unlikely chance that you need warranty repairs, they may be through Victorinox or Amazon or whoever you purchase it from.
I do advise always buying from a reputable source that will be around when you need them.
You won't regret your decision to buy this watch, I love mine!
