In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

Victorinox knives, it is not a bigger version. Now as to why I bought this knife, the cigar punch. The blade for the cigar punch has three sizes, and they are sharp. It will work on big ring cigars as well as much smaller. I had thought about getting the model that has the cigar cutter but I prefer to use a punch on my cigars instead. So if you like a cigar punch and smoke different sizes of cigars, this knife is just perfect.
Product appears to be sturdy and well made, but with that makes the knife also quite heavy. As long as you understand these limitations, you will be very pleased.
For any capa/liga cigar, choose the appropriate size punch, or make a 3 or 4-leaf clover pattern with the small punch. Press in gently, and wiggle/twist until the binder is pierced, then pop the circle free and trim the hole with the scissors. If the hole is off-center, use the appropriate size punch to cut more of the cap away until it is uniform.
For bellicoso/torpedo/perfecto cigars, hold the cigar in your left hand, knife in the right with the point toward you, and gently begin a cut 1mm from the first visible capa twirl. Press inward, and rotate the stick away as you continue the cut toward you. Carefully continue and meet the initial incision, then continue to press, cut and rotate the cigar until the cap is detached.
